Amanpreet was a child bride ! She was hardly sixteen when she got married. She passed out secondary examinations with good results but belonging to conservative Punjabi family she received marriage proposals from her Punjabi community .Her parents accepted a suitable proposal and got her married to a handsome graduate guy.A year after marriage she gave birth to a baby boy when her friends were in higher secondary and a girl two years later .She always wanted to get higher education and discussed about it to her husband .Now some fifteen years later and two grown up kids she is preparing to give her higher secondary examinations. She is feeling awkward because of her age and inspite of me telling there is nothing to feel embarrased of ,she wants people other than her family and friends to think positive about her. What do you think about my friend Amanpreet giving exams at the age of 31 ,i appreciate her and you ?Do you have any age limit in your country for girl to get married ?In India its 18 for girls and 21 for boys .

it is never too late to get higher education. life is a constant lesson. u have to continuously learn or else you'll get left behind.
i dont agree with arranged marriages but i do envy your friend for having teen age kids already. im twenty eight and still single.
there's just so many things that i want to do and i know i cant do them if i already have kids

We don't have any age limit for marriage and we don't have arranged marriage in my country. Regarding your friend getting a higher education I would really advice her to go for it. In my country age is not a barrier in getting an education. If that's what she wants I think she should pursue it.

I have heard that arranged marriage is still practiced in India but it has never been practiced here in my country. Here in my country, girls are encouraged to educate themselves and study. After finishing school, they are expected to contribute something to the household and help in the domestic side of things. We have the legal age of 18 to marry, however, most females here are itching for a job and career first before getting married. Some get pregnant while they are in their teens and young adult years. However, some of them are not forced to married to the father of their children.
I think she will have a hard time in fitting in, becuase of her age and mostly becuase if the curriculum changed in last couple of years. But if she is willing to strive and work hard, I think anyone can do anything. Good luck to her!
