Family-friendly vacations

I have a one year son and this will be our first vacation with a child. We're going to the beach in August and I know he'll love it. We have a lot planned to see such as an aquarium, zoo, and a planetarium(more for me than him lol). Where do you go for family-friendly vacations and what do your children enjoy doing? Especially to those with young children, where do you take them?

We live knida close to the Smokey Mountains here in Tennessee.Its fun packed for older and younger kids.It has this very fun place called Dollywood where there is a ton of rides and shows.Plus this area has many shows,go-carts,shopping,ect...Also it is kinda near the zoo.I also like taking my kids to the beach in South Carolina.

I love Tennessee. I could happily spend months there going from city to city. The mountains are so beautiful.

I haven't been to Dollywood in years. I know they've added a lot since I've been there.

The beach sounds like a smart idea. After all they are too young for amusement parks and stuff like that. By the way, I'm so glad to see your discussions again.

I'd wondered about you. You had your child and then you were gone! Which is natural. How a mother has time to do anything is beyond me.

I wonder the same thing! haha I have a home daycare also, so I stay really busy with that and my son. I hope I can start being more active on here again.

i think simple things like the beach and maybe the zoo are good for young kids; for older kids, we liked the science centre. my daughters are teens now but we still go to the beach with them.
