Writing Communities

Does anyone know of any good writing community sites? I used to be a member of a site called EditRed and it was an awesome community - people really communicated, got to know each other as writers and as people, made valuable and useful comments on one anothers writings - but they had to shut down because they ran out of money to support the site. Since then, I have been searching for another community with the same quality. One of the writers I met through EditRed started one called the Writers' Cafe, which is one of the ones I've joined but all I seem to get is people asking me to read and critique their works but never offer me any comments on mine.
I've also tried Writing.com and gotten even less response there.
Have you tried any writing communities that you have had success with? With a good forum to get to know your fellow community members? Also, if you would like to, share your user names/profiles so we can all be friends.

The only one I've tried, which was absolutely brilliant, is Scribophile. They operate a system whereby you can't post your work unless you critique others, so you get plenty of feedback. The people were incredibly helpful and nice, too: really friendly. It's changed a lot since I was there but seems to be just as cool.

One of the big publishers runs one, too, but I can't remember the name.

I've never heard of EditRed but depending on what you like to write, it might be worth trying fanfiction.net, fictionpress.com or maybe even DeviantArt.com
fanfiction.net and it's sister site fictionpress.com are both really good sites - you submit your work, other people read it and review. It's pretty simple, but you can get a lot of feedback, especially if you contribute on the forums or take part in challenges.
Fanfiction obviously accepts fanfiction - be it about books, games, films etc, or even a crossover of more than one. Fictionpress takes both poetry and prose, of various categories.
Personally, I'm a fanfiction girl, and it has hundreds of different active forums. The Harry Potter Fanfiction Challenge forum has an insane amount of challenges, and if you take part you will get supportive feedback on your work, guaranteed.
I don't know too much about DeviantArt's submission for literature, I tend to use it mostly for art work, but it might be worth checking out if neither of the others catches your attention.
Hope one of these helps, good luck!

I've got some literature up on my DeviantArt but I don't seem to get a lot of response on it there. I'll check out the fictionpress.com; not much for fanfic but the other sounds good.
Thanks :D

Writing is one of my favorite hobbies, and I have been writing at online writing sites. Here is one you might want to look at, or may be you have already joined too. It is "Review Stream", a place to write brief reviews on a variety of topics. It may not be a community the way you want to have. But, fellow-writers and people who had read your reviews, from time to time, come up with questions and comments. It is good to communicate that way too.
