Well, over the course of this year, I've put on a little bit of weight. Well, 15 pounds. Luckily, it didn't really change me drastically, but I was planning on losing it. I was going to do it during the last year, but I really couldn't find the time because I was focusing on my studies. But now I'm ready to lose these 15 pounds. But I don't know whether the goal I'm setting is reasonable or not. I want to aim for something I can reach or else I'll be really disappointed with the outcome. I only have about one month to lose all this weight. Well, one and a half to be exact, but that last half week is reserved for something else.
So tell me. Do you think it's possible to lose 15 pounds in a month? Have you done something of this nature? And do you have any tips?

well there are some people who will tell you that 15 lbs in a month is too much while others will tell you its okay... In the end, it will be your choice especially if you don't have any illnesses that will hamper or hurt you just in case.
For myself I the most I had lost in a month is around 20lbs, and it was rigorous exercises and almost no eating for me. It was hard, that why I said about the illness and stuff that can be aggravated by not eating and strenuous exercise. If you're bent on losing that 15 lbs in a month. YOu will need plenty of discipline in order to achieve it. You have to want it that bad...
But if I were you since you said that it didn't drastically change you, take you time in losing it, you might feel better for it. 5 lbs a month is ideal, so you'll the weight in 3 months then.
It's really all your choice. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I was thinking that it's gonna be a tough road. A lot of people say that if you lose 15 pounds a month, you don't end up keeping that weight off in the long run. If you just lose it so drastically and quickly, you'll probably end up gaining it all back. And I see the logic in that statement.
That's also really good that you lose 20 pounds in a month! Wow, I wish I could do what you did. But that's true, it does seem extremely tough. I mean, I have serious food cravings every now and then, and I just want to eat sometimes. It's hard to discipline myself when I really want good. I heard that losing about 1-2 pounds a week is probably the best way to go if you want to lose weight and keep it off. The thing about that is that it's going to take too long for me. I wanted to lose it really fast.
What kind of exercises did you do to lose that 20 pounds?

You can sure lose 15 pounds in a months, but it will demand much from you and your body. If you fast, drink full nutritional drinks during 21 days you'll lose 10 pounds probably. Another option is to exercise doing hard heavy workouts. It all depends on your health condition you are in right now. Best would be to consult a doctor. I've myself lost 16 pounds during 8 weeks, by eating less and drinking much more nutritional drink while walking 26 miles every week. So it all has to do how much time you want to psend by losing weight fast.

Thanks for that great advice. I love to hear stories about people who've accomplished the goal that I want to achieve. I need some nutritional drinks to supplement me while losing weight. I also need to stop with the food cravings. It's been hard trying to resist the food!

Stay away from sugar and fructose in fruit the first two weeks, because sugar and fructose in fruits stop the body to burn fat. Stay away from bread, pasta also the first two weeks. It is scientific state. Veggie drinks is good and nuts, coconut milk is good. Protein drinks are good. It's the first two weeks that are hard, so write down everything you eat and reward yourself every evening for doing well. Encourage yourself loudly every morning " I can do it !".

People recommend that you should lose no more than 3lbs per week, which would be 12lbs in the month. While it is certainly possible to lose a little more than this, you have to be careful that you're doing it healthily. I would recommend that you ensure that you eat at least 1200 calories per day, and possibly rely more on exercise than diet if you're sure that you wish to lose such a large amount in such a small amount of time. I am losing weight at the moment and lose around 2lbs per week, which is good for me. If you lose such a large amount in this amount of time you also run the risk of having loose skin left over once you've finished losing the weight, which will certainly not be a good thing for you at all.

I never heard of the 3 pounds a week basic rule. Wow, it even sounds hard to lose 3 pounds a week to me! That requires a lot of hard work through diet and exercise. I eat about 2000 calories a day, but I think I make up for it in exercise. Right now, I should be doing more exercise than I am doing. I don't feel like I'm doing enough. I never heard of the loose skin rule, though. What happens with that loose skin? Does it just stay on you?

It can be.
I've watched the reality show "the biggest loser" and yes they really lost 15 pounds in a month and even more than that.
It's determination that drives them to loose weight and also it helps them gain confidence again.
I saw few success stories of "biggest loser" winner, how it changed their lives when they lost those fats/weights and how happy they are with their new looks.

But the thing with the Biggest Loser contestants is that they were big. And when I mean big, they were obese or morbidly obese. When you're bigger and you work that hard with personal trainers, you're bound to lose large amounts of weight. It's not likely for an average person just losing some extra weight by themselves.

That's definitely true. These contestants are usually very fat, most of the times obese. That's why they can lose that much weight. That's why I said in my post that would be really difficult to you, because it seems that these 15 pounds is your only extra weight. But, I still think that you can do, but you are going to need to do some crazy things.

Yes, of course. You just have to focus and discipline yourself. Resist the temptation of eating too much. Count your calories and you will see in no time that you already lose that pounds. It's hard work though.

Just do your own set of exercise or watch a DVD with some tips on how to do the right exercise for you. Good luck! You can do it!

The hardest thing to have is discipline that the exercises need. Here where I live is winter now and I think is so tough to get off the bed and go to the gym. The worst thing is that the gym stay 20 minutes from where I live and I have to walk on this freezing weather.

I think disciplining myself by not giving myself the food I want is the hardest part. I can't seem to resist food. It's just so good sometimes!

Hi! 15 lbs might be a bit much all at once so try for a lower number such as 6-8 lbs. The reason I say that is you might make yourself sick if you do too much too fast. What you can do is watch what you eat and your activities during the day. Do you sit a lot? Do you walk or run and if so, how long?
What you may be able to do is get some programs that let you walk at home and eat fruit like there is no tomorrow (unless for some reason your body can't do it), fiber, and water! I'm not saying no carbs or sugar as your body needs them but just watch it. Also, try to build the muscle as that makes the 15 lbs less noticeable depending on how you do it. Last summer I was pregnant and because I found the right excersizing for me, I stayed small for the first 6-7 months.
Another route you could take is work with a certified trainer and see if they can help you. If they're a good listener, they'll not only show you the excersizes that work for you, but they'll evaluate your progress, and could keep the motivation going.
If you do find something that works (and I hope that you will), stick with it.
You'll find something!

Thanks for the really great advice! I kinda felt like 15 pounds was unrealistic in a month, but I really want to lose it. I feel like I might make myself sick. I'm not that used to eating healthy foods all the time. I'm more used to whatever's in my house and eating whatever I want. I actually run every morning for about 30 minutes, and I just do sit-ups and push-ups and other things. Any other exercises you think I should do? I'm also trying to eat more fruits and veggies and trying to cut out all my junk foods. It is getting kind of hard, but I do love fruits. They actually taste pretty good. I can't really afford a personal trainer, so I'm going to do it myself. Hopefully I can lose those pounds!

Yeah, hopefully I can keep up! I've had some major food cravings in a while, but I'm doing it. I am joining the gym, and I might join some classes! The classes are much better because you get to have fun while you're losing weight. I need to do more muscle toning definitely.

Hi and thanks for what you said!
It does take some work to change your diet around but if you really look out there, there are a number of small things you can do that will save you a few calories. Sounds like you're on the right track in eating more fruits and veggies! Salads are great too--just watch the dressings! I do try to keep something nearby in case I do feel a bit woozy such as water or a light snack.
Exercises--could try some weight lifting so you can tone up the muscles and makes the fat less noticeable. Can you get to a gym and perhaps ask what classes they offer? Sometimes they have great rates and it is worth investing in yourself if it'll have the effect you're after. Perhaps see if there are any free days coming up and if you can afford the rates.
Hope this helps!

Why do you only have one month? If you do not make changes that you stick to the 15 pounds will come back anyway?!? What's the point of that i wonder... That being said i do believe that 15 pounds in a month is acheiveable in one month. That's only 7.5 kgs that's loosing at nearly 2 kilos a week! That would be very tough but with an extremely strict diet and exercise program then it is acheiveable but not sustainable. To really loose weight and have a healthy quality of life so you are more likely to keep the weight off you need to make permanent choices about diet and exercise. There is no point doing one without the other, the are both equally important. You should be strictest on your best trait.

Yes, this is what everyone is telling me. They say that you can do it with a strict diet and strenuous exercise, but it's highly unlikely that you'll keep it off. I only have one month because after that I'll be too busy with work and other things. I won't have time to work out and eat properly. I figured that since I had a month off, I'd use it to lose my weight. But I am scared with what you are saying. I don't want to lose 15 pounds in a month and then gain all of it back the next month. That would just be a waste of time, and it would seriously disappoint me. That's why it's both important. I'm still going to try it, though. I really have no other option and no other months to lose the weight.

I think it's doable, but it's not healthy for your body. The liklihood of you gaining the weight back is huge as you would pretty much be shocking your body. It would take altering your diet and being very physically active. It would be better to just lose it gradually and know that whatever plans you have will be fine if you are a few pounds heavier.

I used to be able to do this. I would drastically reduce my calories and use meal supplement shakes. Now that I am older my metabolism is not great. I am sure I messed it up with all the previous dieting. Takes me longer now to lose weight. Good luck!

Oh wow! That's really good to lose 17 pounds in 2 weeks! That would seem crazy for me to do. But I'm definitely willing to push myself until I can't go no more.
What did you do to achieve that goal?

I never had to lose 15 pounds, but I think this can be done. It's going to be really tough, because, for what you say, these 15 pounds is your only extra weight. You definitely have to beggin to make exercises, in a gym or by yourself, and specially aerobics, like run or ride a bike. I always do aerobics watching TV, so, I can spend a lot of time doing and it's not that bad.
Also, it's very important that you change you eating habits. I would recommend to eat more japanese food, don't know if you liked. But, when I want to lose weight, I start a diet where I only eat japanese food (sashimi, sushi, misso..).

I guess it depends on how hard you are willing to try to achieve that goal. But just remember that no matter what you do just make sure that it is safe and will not hurt you in the long run. It is not good to be disappointed with something especially if you were not sure from the beginning whether or not is it realistic. It is not going to be healthy for you. Why won't you just put your mind at ease and do it at a pace at your convenience. More so, you are the one who knows your body best as to what routine could best help you shed those pounds.

Nothing is impossible depending on the things you do to achieving that goal. Just make sure that you are doing the safest regimen to keep your weight down. Just do it at your own pace and don't force yourself into something that is too strenuous to handle only because you are dying to shed those pounds that fast. Otherwise you would be doing more harm than good in your body. I am telling you this because my younger sister who is lazy to do exercises and follow on a good eating habit or do house chores turns on to this type of coffee that turns out to be luckily putting her to loose weight. But she would complain about dizziness and becoming forgetful. And I have not even known about this coffee. It is not even BFAD certified. A healthy diet and good exercise that works well for you are the best.
