Yes! My 3 year old daughter prefers toys for boys,oh my! When we we're in a mall, there's a big doll taller than her and it's really a pretty doll! I thought she will look and get the doll but she didn't even showed any interest for it! And when she saw a helicopter toy,her eyes widened and she said,"Mama look,a helicopter! I want that!" I said huh?! She likes balls and cars too, waaaa!!! And whenever she plays games in her laptop, she prefers games like planes or spaceships battle but she also like puzzle games. But my baby is very much sweet! Maybe she just likes toys for boys.
Do you also have some peculiar things about your child? What do you think about the like of my baby?

She's a tom boy! She will probably grow out of it. I have heard of a boy being in a girls body too. And vice versa. That is pretty extreme though. I am writing an article about intersex or people with both genetalia. It is all pretty interesting stuff. Your sweet little girl just likes boyish stuff.

No! I didn't mean she was a lesbian. I met she liked to play like a boy is all. I don't write for Triond.

Hi Celticeagle!
I went to your profile and see if you are also a Filipina since you wrote the word tomboy, haha! Tomboy is a tagalog word meaning lesbian in our dialect.
Oh no,my daughter is not a tomboy, waaaa!! I hope not! But you see,she also likes princess clothes and she will always say that she's a princess, yahu!
Do you write on triond? You said you are writing an article for it,I'm on triond.

Don't feel bad about it. She is just 3 years old. She doesn't know yet the toys that are for boys and for girls. She doesn't even know her gender! I understand how you feel as a mother. Just relax. what you can do for now is to introduce her or girls' toys. Don't buy toys that are for boys instead have more girls toys as possible in your house. On her laptop, don't her let play the things that you said she likes playing. Introduce her to all the feminine things in your house. I hope I help you with my answer. Take care!

Hi marilyn! Welcome here! I think you're also a Filipina, your name sounded like one, hehe!
Oh I have lots of toys for girls for her marilyn but she doesn't mind those,no interest at all,she really looks for the helicopters, balls and cars she always want but as you said, she is young to know it so I guess she will be fine with it.With regards to games in her laptop,I think it's fine to let her play the boys games 'cause I too find it interesting and playful, lol! Anyways, she likes being called a princess whenever she wears a dress, yehey!

Hi marilyn! So you're a filipina too, haha! I also have a friend whose name is the same as yours! WE can be good friends here!
Oh I don't worry no more with my baby liking toys for boys, they all said it's normal for her, lol!

I guess you have to keep the toys for boys that mentioned so that she can focus more on the toys that you have that are intended for girls. Don't worry to much about your daughter. You said that she likes to be called as princess when she wears a dress...in that case I guess you should try buying her barbie dolls who are wearing beautiful dress. I guess, you can start calling her interest in playing girls toys because of barbie dolls dressed beautifully!
About your question, if I'm a Filipina...YES, I'm a Filipina.

My daughter is four and a half years old. She plays with trains and tracks, instead of soft toys. We had two containers full of soft toys, but she never really touched any of them, except for rag dolls that I bought for her. Although she plays with helicopters and such, she also plays with miniature plastic dolls like strawberry shortcake and such, so she does have a mixture, though very selected.

Cute, aren't they, our little girls? The other day when I met her teacher in school, she told me that my daughter prefers to play trains and trucks with the boys in school, instead of dress-up with the girls. I laughed. As a child, she had limited interaction with girls because her cousins and second-cousins are boys. I don't mind at all. Hope that will toughen her up when she goes into primary school and be able to fend herself.

Hi Sydney!
My baby has lots of soft toys too but she only plays mickey mouse instead of minnie mouse, yay! She wants soft toys that are not doll-like and most of her favorites are really toys for boys but it's fine now,I have nothing to worry 'cause reading all of the replies here washed out all the worries I had, lol!

Hi my sweet friend
That is too cute that she likes adventurous toys instead of the dolls as maybe they are sort of boring. She probably likes anything with sound and noise. lol
My daughter was not a dolly type either as she loved to play ball and video games too, and usually they were not the girly type ones either and noticed she always enjoyed playing with her brother and his toys.

She's my angel my dear friend, she always brings joy to us,thanks for the compliments, she really is a doll herself!
I didn't know most kids would want toys for boys,I mean all of you who responded here said they also like toys for boys when they were just kids and their children too, haha! It is just that me and all of my girl cousins played dolls when we were kids and I don't find it boring then, lol! Maybe my daughter is more adventurous than me,haha!
Thanks for the comment on her picture my dear friend!

Give her a break, my friend! She's a child! I used to like cars too when I was little. I like them because of their wheels. Also, I didn't enjoyed playing much with dolls since I thought they were boring. Anyway, I turned out fine. I think...hahahah! Don't pressure her much.

First of all, she is just adorable! You can see the mischief in her eyes, like she's waiting for the next round of fun - it's quite charming!
I was the same way when I was a child, and so were many of my friends. My mom never did manage to wean me from hot wheels to barbie dolls. Cars are just more fun. And you can make helicopters fly. All you can do with dolls is change their clothes and have pretend tea parties! When I was that age I wanted real tea for me. :)

Hi Awinds! Welcome here!
Haha, thanks for the compliments on my daughter, she really is adorable!
I got your point Awinds and it made me realized that my daughter has a more adventurous wants over toys, lol! Yeah, you are right about the dolls, maybe my daughter finds it more playful for boy toys than the dolls. So it doesn't matter then if it is a toy for boys or girls, what matters is she enjoys playing with it,thanks for making me realized this, haha!
Haha, you wanted a real tea then, you must be very playful those times!

I don’t think there is anything wrong with your beautiful daughter’s like for boy’s toys. A friend of mine has two sons and, when they were little around two or three, one of them preferred prams and dolls to cars and trucks like his brother yet he is now nine years old , perfectly normal and very much a boy in every way. Kids like to experiment with different things and my belief is that we should we should let them play with whatever they like (within reason, lol!). Your little one looks like a gorgeous sweetheart, you are very lucky!

Thanks for the compliments on my daughter!
Oh my,to tell you honestly my friend,I'd be more worried if ever my son will play dolls, lol! Can't help that feeling paula, haha!
Yes,I agree with you,I should just let my baby experiment things but of course, with my guidance, hehe! My baby is really smart paula, she even knows how to operate her own laptop, her dad bought her one 'cause hubby says she should be aware of the computer at her early age. She really wants to play everyhing that is new to her.

hello cute kid,
My daughter and only daughter never had any interests with dolls and girlie things.
She's the fave in the family the time she was born esp in her dad's side because her dad is the only son,and the last one to get married.
Her auntie buy her sets of barbie dolls and barbie stuff.
But she never plays with those ones.
Her auntie who lives in Canada gifted her a walking doll almost her height when she was 4 years old,and same thing she never played with it.
She likes cars and planes too,so my mother send her a package full of airplanes and cars (hahaha)
My daughter is the eldest and only girl, she has 2 younger brother,so she plays with them ...all boys toys and poor barbie,so I decided to give away those expensive barbie (to my hubby's niece who has a daughter)
But my daughter grows up as normal lady
So,nothing to worry about my dear, maybe she's just curious with other things and not the girly stuffs

do not worry it's just momentary.
I think that many parents face this problem.
some boys as girls want toys.
Just these toys are more interesting than others think is because of this.
Your daughter is wonderful and once more calm friend.

I think most of girl child loves boys toys too. It's not necessary that your little girl is different but I think other little girl like those stuffs too. Just let her play what see want's because she's still a kid. If she keeps on liking those boys stuffs, well you should think why. You have a cute kiddo. Wish her to stay healthy always and God bless ^^

It bothered me too a little why my daughter loves playing with small cars and arcade games that has to do with driving and some other similar interest. Instead of being angry with her I observed and talk with her. I later learned that her interest started when my brother taught her about playing games that are usually played by boys. She is a girlie girl, she loves dressing up and is very feminine in the way she acts. If this is the same thing with your daughter then there is no cause for concern. Since she is still young you can guide her to learn to appreciate the girlie girl stuff too.

Hi starrose_ara!
Oh yes,my baby is very much like that of your daughter! I just don't understand why she had the likes for playing toys for boys. Well,I also like playing the helicopter, cars and spaceship games on computer but her liking of toys for boys has no influence from anyone at all. Her brother is already big and doesn't play anymore. Maybe she just likes a not-boring toys, lol! She likes dresses too and very feminine with her acts, she even wants to be called a purple princess as she wants color purple so much, lol!
So yes,I guess I don't have to worry a bit,she just enjoys playing those toys, hehe!
See yah!

I am not an expert but I personally think that it's perfectly fine for kids to like and play with toys that are "considered" appropriate for the opposite gender. Their preference for certain types of toys are not an indicator of what they will turn out to be in the future.
I'm telling you this from personal experience. I have 7 first cousins from my mother's side. 5 girls, and 2 boys. The eldest girl used to be the muse in every beauty parade and basketball team. Was the leading lady in school plays, and the Reyna Elena in yearly Santacruzan activities. She even has a life-sized doll (maybe about 2-3 feet tall) named Rose Marie, and my cousin used to brush her hair a lot. She is a lesbian and is in a relationship with her girlfriend since 1987. They now live together witha house of their own.
Her brother, the eldest boy, has always been effeminate, since the beginning. He used to enjoy robots and cars too. But he also liked to dance. He danced his way to Japan and was their star entertainer. He is a cross-dressing gay.
My brother, when he was little, ALWAYS had the latest and top-of-the-line toys. Voltes V, Lego, trucks, name it. He even u sed to be part of an all-male singing group. Had really beautiful girlfriends who are either commercial models or movie extras. He is gay and has been in a serious relationship with another man for about 15 years.
But I love each and every one of them. Dearly love them. And they're the ones who are the most family-oriented out of all of us.
So you see, it doesn't really matter what your kid loves to play with. My daughter loves playing with balls, trains, and is now fancying cars. But she still plays with her stuffed animals, and her kitchen playthings. They are simply curious that's all.
Just let them enjoy and love them unconditionally. :)

Hi miad! Can I just call you by that name for short, hehe!
You have wonderful stories about your nephews and I am not against any of them as I have a gay brother, they are still humans just like us.
My brother really showed his true identity when he was just a kid. He never liked cars, trains and whatever toys for boys he had. He likes playing our dolls and housedolls, lol! That is why my relatives are teasing me that my baby might be a lesbian, yay! But my baby likes princess dresses!
From your story and the replies of all the respondents here,I am now confident that my baby just like some thrills in playing. She is so active and adventurous and maybe that's the reason for liking those toys.
Yes,I guess I just have to let my daughter enjoy whatever she wants, kids these days are very smart and adventurous,I just have to love and guide her.
Thanks miad for being open with the life of your nephews!

Thanks for your kind welcome..! (",)
I definitely can relate! Its just her natural interest..I mean there is nothing to prove that we wont be 'feminine' like if we carry, what they call 'tomboyish' characteristics..I mean I was a 'Daddys Girl' too, but I love my Mum just as equally..I just think with my manly 'characteristics' (NO WAY IN MY APPEARANCE LOL)- its made me a slightly stronger person..? Maybe?
And your daughter sounds like a joy.. sleeping with her cars- awww.. really cute the things kids do..(",) you are blessed my friend..
