How many times have you told someone that you would remember them in your prayers? Maybe someone that is sick, a friend down on their luck or neighbor experiencing hard times.
You tell them you will pray for them. Then the day goes on, you get busy...do you remember to pray for them? I have done this and actually forgotten. I don't think this is good, lol.
My landlord has been sick and I told his wife I would keep him in my prayers.
I'm not gonna forget. It's not just a feel good saying. Prayer is powerful!
Anyone other than me made this mistake? I guess its forgetfulness but I'm not forgetting anymore!

I agree with your wisdom. I do not like teling people that I will pray for such and such. And when I do, I forget most of the time. Although I remember later. When I pray, I do the Lords Prayer. Sometimes at the end of the prayer I might insert something. When it comes to children, they are in my thoughts. But again, so are the ones I say I'll pray for.

This is why alot of people keep prayer books, little note books full of their prayer promises and room for notes on follow up. I have seen some of these run into several volumes of notebooks and it is uplifting to review them occassionally to remember how many of your prayers actually came true.

i have a journal that i keep my prayer requests in. i think prayer is powerful. i write in my journal about the day and what important things have happened. i have a section for dr visits, tests, special mailings i have received, and so forth. i use a calendar in the journal to put down my health issues for example pain, meds i took, any treatments that were done. also, in the calendar is what i have washed for example the br carpets on such and such a date. the date i ordered my meds and so forth. this works for me.

When I tell someone I will pray for them, not only do I do it, but I start right then. I start as soon as I leave their presence. I do not wait until it is time for daily formal prayer time. I pray as I walk or do whatever I am doing. This is how one should live.
A promise made in business deals with your good name...A promise made in prayer is a bit more important...

yes you are right, thats a great way to be. I often respond this way. Yet my mind often scrambles sometimes and concentration comes a little harder. Or should I say I have to work harder to concentrate. We all fall short...

Prayers in fact do nothing. There is nobody listening or answering. They may do some good if the person beng prayed about knows it is happening and it gives them a mental boost. So if the person believes you are praying for them it does not matter to them if you are or not. However if you do it it may make you feel better and give you a smug feeling of self satisfaction

If you wish to look at it from your point of view, then you need to take it a bit further. Prayer can cure those who believe. Those who believe, are calmed by prayer and relieved of stress. When this happens, the brain releases hormones that are part of our immune system. When these hormones are released, they can greatly improve our health and have been know to even bring about cures.
Do not be so quick to discount the power of pray. You may not believe in religion or a Creator, but prayer has proven to work many times for believers.
It will not work for you however...too bad.

Hi Adoniah I see you agree with me that nobody is listening and the power of pray is simply the internal effect that they have on someone who believes that prayer works. I would dispute your claim that there have many time that prayer has been proven to work. I would suggest that they cures may well have been due to other causes. Natural forces of the body and mind or medical intervention. The only properly conducted survey into this by a university I think it was in Canada showed that there was no measurable effect of prayers. Of course you re at liberty to believe in anything you think may help you. Thanks devideddi if that makes you feel better I am pleased

I have forgotten in the past just like you. I have made a promise to write it down now so I do not forget. It is easy to forget when you have so much going on and your own things happening. I totally have done it and feel bad about it but I am working on it now... =)

I pray for someone as saying I will leaves my lips.. the Lord is with us everywhere.. and I know how forgetful I am.. I also ask the Lord to remind me to pray for them again. It's also good during a prayer time to ask the Lord if there is someone else I should pray for.

Everything you said is right. I speak to God throughout the day and sometimes I say a prayer right away but often I wait and plan on giving it a little more concentration.

Hi, yes I have done this. But I have solved that problem. When I tell someone I will keep them in my prayers I will pray for them. I will say a prayer for them right them. Just a little prayer under my breath. Then when I do pray I always pray to God for those that I had promised to pray for those that I remember and for those that I have told that to and had forgotten. I call it my prayer list.

I'm sure all who pray at one time or another have forgotten and then remember later on. Prayer is very important. It's important that we do express our thoughts about such matter. We are imperfect and when we first thought to say this to someone or to pray about, God knows our thought and good intention. He hears us even then.
