Driving while under the influence

Well I guess I should really start with some background for this question, recently I have decided to save money by riding a bike instead of driving my car for short journeys. So to work, friends houses etc. But when my friend asked if I fancied a few drinks at the pub, I thought hmm; no need for a taxi home. I'll ride my bike. Genius I know.
Well it was at first but I do have to admit it wasn't my greatest idea so far. It was a long ride home. If you think stumbling when you were drunk was difficult to navigate try it on a bike. I'm not so clever now to say the least.
So here is the question, if I was to be pull be the police would I receive a fine? get points on my license?
I have heard of a man being fined for driving a child's electric toy car (with a top speed of 4 mph) being pulled as he drove down the road while drunk. Hence why I am curious.

I think it's definitely safer on a bike than driving a car home, especially for everyone else on the road, but it's definitely not totally safe! It really depends where you live, if in the USA the laws for that will be different in each county you travel to. I have a few friends who ride their bike home from the bars though and the worst that has happened is one time a police officer told them they should walk their bike rather than ride it. As far as the law goes though I have no idea, I would be way too scared to ride a bike drunk myself, I am a chicken! LOL
I guess we know it's not safe to ride a toy car though, I wonder what kind of mileage it gets? LOL

I don't think the toy car uses gas,so right there that's a plus
I have equalibrium problems,therefore I can't ride a bike anyway....and I don't even drink.

Much will depend on the country that you are in. In some "in charge of a vehicle" or in others "a motor vehicle" may be the terms of the law. So in your case, it would depend on if the word "motor" is in the wording of the law. But I think you can be assured that the police would get you for something regardless!

Oh my! Your right that was not a smart move. But,I do think,if anything that you might get fined or even arrested for being drunk in public. It also depends on the police officer if he or she is in a good mood, how strict they want to be,etc.
I suppose it would also depend on where you live at and what the laws are there.

As far as I am aware there is no law against it in the uk, although saying that I have not done it since. I think I'll stick to have maybe one or two and then riding home, well we can't all be health and safety mad can we?

I think it depends upon your country's own set of rules and regulation. If it is stated that even riding a bicycle while you are drunk is punishable by law then you still are..but how funny it is to see how a police would pull you aside and demand for your license while driving drunk in a bicycle..
Good luck driving.. stay safe anyway..

what country is this friend.
Sounds a bit like a joke. But I think you will all take points and make the penalties for drunk drivers because these drunk drivers endanger the lives of others in the movement.
nice day!

I'm in the UK, I have friends who do it as well. You see being a student, we tend to be resourceful but don't look too far ahead when making plans.

Do matter what you are riding you will still be penalised because you were under influence.no country in world has a law which exempts bikers under influence.
But if you are riding bicycle then you will be safe ,atleasts from police but not from the traffic.

late at night there is not much traffic on the roads but I do have to keep my eye out cars but it is relatively safe in comparison to other being in control of other vehicles while under the influence.
