Hoarding people.

I read a discussion about someone hoarding things and started wondering if people hoard people instead of things. Do you think hoarding (of things) come to be because people cannot hoard people? Or do people hoard and keep people in their lives stacked in their 'closet' also? What about YOU?

Hmm I am not sure that people actually hoard people, but maybe there is some truth there. Wondering if this is where some simply need to have a lot of people in their homes, knowing well they cannot help pay for household expenses. That is interesting and never really explored that area. Hoarding can be really bad as so many store and save so much unneeded things. My boyfriend's mother is really bad at this as she has her home completely filled and the only one who lives there. I mean she has like 7 couches, 4 love seats. Last I checked she had about 6 coffee tables. This is not the worse part though, she has a 3 car garage that no car can fit, in fact you can't even open the garage door for fear that all will fall out. She continually collects anything she thinks someday she will use.

wow that is pretty bad. Me and my husband likes to go thrift shopping and we realize we acquire a lot of stuff in the past two years! But on one hand, I can safely say I am always conscious of the stuff we get, and I always ask myself or my husband for that matter, if we really need the stuff in question...=)

Yeah it is pretty bad what she does but has been doing this for years. She will pick up anything from the side of the road with the hopes she can use. I am speaking of stuff that literally belongs in the trash bins.

I haven't really thought about people hoarding people but I guess it is possible. I think that hoarding usually starts out innocent enough..like a collection or a quest but then it turns into an obsession. I watched a show about a man that hoarded toys. He started out buying them in hopes of seeing the son that hos wife refused to let him see. Whenever he saw a toy his son might like when he got to see him, he would buy it. He never got to see him. He had 18 years worth of bought toys in his house. He had even maxed out his credit cards to buy "his son" the most recent toys. He had even lost track of all that he bought and had two or three of the same thing..I guess that would be a people based example.

Usually hoarding comes from people having trama in their lives. A loss of a love one and this being so hard on them that they start hoarding things in fear of losing things since they did lose the loved one. It is sad and is a slow and building process. One reason it is so hard to change the lifestyle.

I don't know the answer, but I do know if you just stack people in te closet and don't give them attention they will disapear on you and you will be left with nothing. Now if only we could get the clutter to do that.

I don't think we can hoard people as they are far different from non living things that can be hoarded. I guess human trafficking is another thing, you keep large number of people to make slaves out of them. I think both can be very frustrating as people are given rights to be on his own and do things he likes and not as commanded or demanded by other people.
