Action vs dreamer.

I am a dreamer. I can day dream all day. I probably dream more than I act in my life. I do feel like I'm wasting time sometimes. I remember a friend and I discussed how much we can day dream and another friend said she never dreams and she'd rather be moving. People promote dreaming like a good thing but if you think about it, it's about the future compared to the NOW. Just like they say your wasting your present by thinking about your past... does it mean the same for the future? What are your thoughts?

There are introverts and extroverts, about 75% of people are extroverts. They really don't find internal stimulation, they have to have external stimulation. I find that introverts are the dreamers and writers... that's probably the difference between you and this friend... It isn't a waste of time if it helps keep you happy... dream on - I do!

An interesting thought, and I do think that sometimes we dwell too much on dreams and never get to act on them. I think that it's okay to be a dreamer, as long as you're doing something towards your dreams as well. If you're just dreaming then there's no point, because you'll never get there. Though, sometimes it's hard to know if what you're doing is going to make your dreams happen.

Here also there is a proverb that "the day time dreams will not come true", may be it is correct. I also getting so many day time dreams some are very dangerous and some are cool. But i am just going through my daily works.

Let me start with this, there is nothing wrong with dreaming, harmless dreaming. Everyone day dreams from time to time. I for one do. But if you have a dream that is a passion for you, do not just dream about it, go and do something about it. Because that dream will become a reality for you and you will be successful and happy. Here is a good explanation, when you work a job that you do not feel good about, it is only a job and a task to do for money. But if you have a career that you love, that is your passion, then it's not work at all, it is what you have always wanted to do. That is what everyone strives for in this life. But not everyone can achieve it.

Without dreams life would be pretty boring. Often our actions are based on a dream. I dream of being a successful freelance writer. This is a dream I have had my whole life. I've let myself get sidetracked more times than I care to recall but I keep going back to that dream and apply some sort of action like taking writing courses to keep me focused on my dream.

It might be that everybody is dreaming, and so am I. Maybe the hopes and dreams will fulfill. I admit I am wasting my time when events from the past come to my mind, and if I devote much time lingering in my memories. It can cause problems for my future. I try to open my eyes to the real side of life. I dream what if my wishes could come true, if I could be successful doing the things I really enjoy. One should not be afraid of dreaming. Dreams can also make people fly.

In dreams you see vision. Without vision, what ever a person does will not succeed. So I believe in dreams. I day dream too often. But remember, dreaming doesn't really change anything physical, only what you feel inside, your perceptions and outlook in life. You live in a moving world. The important things are now and how it affects tomorrow. The first step is dream. But it doesn't stop there. I'd help promote dream. But with only vision, nothing happens. What's the point of dreaming then if you're not gonna make it happen?

Dreaming is a concept where you just imagine a part of your life to be like. It can be a huge think or just a simple one depends on what you are dreaming of. Also Dreaming all the day probably of future i think its not worth while because you first have to work on your present and after that you will be able to move in the future. Of course its better to dream about the future but only for a limited time. We should dream about life and that's good but apart from dreaming we should have certain goals of what we dream of say we are dreaming of living in a big house then our goal should be acquiring the things that will give us big house. So that is what about my concept about dreaming. Thank you

I would say dreaming about our past helps to map out our future and the only thing I would say is to try to concentrate on something good that happened in the past, rather than something bad. This is what I do. I like to call it "optimism" rather than dreaming. I - like you, daydream all the time and I read somewhere that it's actually healthy for the brain to do this, especially for me, as I'm on my own much of the time, when John is at work. If I didn't dream I wouldn't have started this new mission of cooking new food. If I didn't dream we wouldn't have the blinds (coming tomorrow) that I really wanted. If I didn't dream I would (most probably) run away from the slightest problem, back to my parents. Oh, and last (but by no means least) if I didn't dream I wouldn't be happy..I'd be depressed. Hope this helps!

Well, for me its also a part of your future/plans. You have to set goals first before you do action. Maybe there is a wrong connotation about being a dreamer (for other) but for me its also important cause through day dreaming, you can picture out the possibilities of what will happen when you do such actions.

Dreaming can give us a little break, and it also can give us new thoughts. But taking action is more important. If you only dream you won't get anything.

I like daydreaming a lot. Well , some books say you can get your goals by thinking about them , magnetizing things that are matched to your thoughts and of course , do the apropriate actions , you also have to feel like you already achieved your goal. It says we are like a broadcasters , like radios. The combination of thoughts , feelings and actions , make our goals come true. So , it is important to have day dreams but , do it with awareness!!!

I dont think so.I always dreaming something everiday in my life. And i always dream and do action, although sometimes i was fail.Someone said to me,"if you wanna a big,you must have a big dream".So if you can't get your dream comes true but you get experience how to get it and you will be able to learn why did you fail.

I think anything in moderation is fine. When we over do is when we start having problems. I daydream about scenes sometimes for my writing. I do tend to day dream as well. It is easy to get into a rut and daydream too much. I think it could very well be a problem if your are thinking too much about the future or the past and not getting on with the living.

GREAT LOLZ !!When we get up in the morning there are two options ,get ready ,struggle and chase your dreams or go back to sleep and dream !!Your friend is correct in this world of competitions it is very necessary to keep moving .Day dreaming not only wastes time ,will also make you lazy !I never think of future ,i am a homemaker and require to do all household task ,kids ,inlaws and even grocery .With loads of responsibilities i sleep only for seven hour .I try to spend some time on my self and some time on internet working to get paid .Time is like a river , you cannot touch the same water twice ,because the flow that has passed will never pass again so wake up and ENJOY LIFE !

I am a dreamer too. I tend to day dream quit a bit also, but more so because I am continually re-assessing things in my mind. I do look back quite a bit to see if there is anything I can change for the future. I don't feel I am stuck or wasting time in the past, just my way of re-evaluating things and wondering if there is room for improvement.

There is a place for both. What good is action is you have no direction? Sure I can move, but I can run into walls and end up a in wilderness with no direction. Dreams give direction. For example, I dream of becoming a published author. I am currently acting to make that happen. If I had not dreamed of being an author, than my action would have no direction now and thus be rendered pointless. Dreaming is good. Dreams are the foundation. But people who only dream and dream are using their dreams as a crutch - a fake promise to themselves of "someday." It is easy to use dreaming to get stuck in a rut: you think about it but you never make the first step in that direction. In short, dreaming and action are good. Dreaming must come first and then action must immediately follow. On their own, dreaming and action are worthless.

Dreaming is healthy, it helps you problem solve and helps you destress. It can be unhealthy though, living in a dream world may cause you unhappiness in the real world. Also it is important to remember that you can make the real world just as good as your dreams if you work hard enough.
