I saw a very large group of plants besides the canal water until i figure out that these plants are Vegetables and Fruits Plants. I wonder how these plants live and grows that water and soil is dirty, full of garbage and different waste of human and animals. Do you think it can harm human health if these Vegetables and Fruits is eaten by human? I mean those dirty substances of resources that plants lives will also aquired? What do you think? I need your opinion about this. Have you ever think of it too? what do you think is the reason?

All things on earth decompose. Chemicals have a 1/2 life of effectiveness then they too become inert. Water is the great equalizer of all that. Water helps with breaking down the 'dirty' substances to their basic componants. The fruits and vegetables take in the nutriments and water they need through the roots. I would not be concerned about what is in the water. I would not be concerned about the chemicals, either. The ecosystem has so many ways to clean itself.

Hello Dear Rhejans! You are right I too have observed these things. In fact I have seen people growing such plants on the banks of canals and small rivers1 As far as growing of these plants is concerned they can very well grow as the waste materials along with several types of animal and human wastes serve as the food material for them after their decomposition and the plants can very well utilise these products for their growth and also for the producing the produce, may it then be in the form of vegetables or fruits!
Now the problem in consuming such vegetables and fruits is that since the water is highly contaminated there are every chances that the vegetables and the fruits grown in these type of places can have harmful organisms on their surface while harvesting them or during the period of the growth. They may even contain the harmful chemicals drained out in the canal by many industries and they too can be dangerous for human consumption!
But unfortunately in the countries which are developing and we have local markets where fruits and vegetables are sold by vendors who are not governed under any strict laws, we may likely have such vegetables and fruits grown on the banks of the canals and river in the market and since it is very difficult to make out if they are grown on the farm or otherwise poor people might get these infected vegetables and fruits for their consumption to face the harmful consequences later in their lives!
This is really a pathetic situation and Government do some thing about this and most of all the people involved in such business should be made to understand the ill effects of such grown products so that such practices are stopped voluntarily by them! But the million dollar question is will they listen if they are told not to do so as they are making good money out of these products!!
Thanks for the discussion, it was in fact an interesting and thought provoking discussion and I liked participating in it! All the best!
