An old man once said, "There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living.

Yes, that's the flow of letting go of everything. Moment where in we stop controlling of what will happen next. No longer conscious of what people would say to us and that we don't live according to their expectation. But living a life according to our phase.

Too bad if it's the family you love and care about who are creating the drama and pulling you into it. Too bad if your parent is dying and your family are fighting, unable to come to any important decisions. Sometimes we just have to deal with the drama and unhappiness and the people who are making us unhappy. It's a fact of life.
Life isn't all about fun and laughter and joy and gaiety.

Hi Zandi!
Good Post!
Life is like a flowing river and one needs to flow with the tide despite many hindrances and bumpers in life. Living life for others and for oneself is the best course of action. Falling in a path is part of life and only those people fall, who walk. People who are inactive do not fall and do not grow in life.

I did not know about this exact proverb. However, it sounds very meaningful and we must act upon it.

I think that old man was definitely right. Life is too short to be anything but happy. I didn't realize that in my own life until cancer hit me in 2003. Now I try to do things that make me happy. I hope that once my health returns again that I will be able to do more things. I just finished with my chemo for my second bout with cancer and hope that I can start doing things soon. Have a great weekend!!!

Thanks! I have had to have strength all my life because I was never given anything without some kind of struggle. I was always academically challenged throughout my elementary and secondary education as well as through most of my first degree (took me almost 18 years of off and on schooling to accomplish that) only to find out one term before graduating that I had ADHD, Tourette Syndrome and 7 years later I found out I had Asperger Syndrome. Knowing these things made me feel more in control of my life and I did well until the cancer hit me later in 2003. Although I have been through a lot in my life, I think it actually made me a stronger person even though I still face obstacles. I am now working on my second master's degree through online education and do a lot better than I ever did in a traditional classroom and that is in spite of going through cancer treatment for the last 6 months.

I think the old man who said that has gained enough wisdom all through the years of his living. Indeed years have the power to mellow. Life indeed is too short to spend in sadness. We have so many reasons to feel happy anyway. No matter what situation we are in.. feeling happy is not hard if we only know how to appreciate the good things in life.

I love your wisdom zandi! It is true that life can be challenging enough without extra negativity in it and that can include certain relationships and, believe me I know all about those! If it is not possible to eradicate some people from your life so learning how to deal with their negativity is a solution. Letting go of the past is crucial and something I still struggle with which may explain why I still cringe at the memory of an incident which occurred around 19 years ago! It is paramount to fill our lives with all that is good whenever we can.

HeHe...It's a good quotation, friend. This is really true...life is something like a big trouble but it isn't.
Life is experience troubles to test how people we are. Life incline with many sorrows and miseries but you need to be stronger than what you think...to survive the trials that may test you all day...

Life is.....like a box of chocolates....you never know what you are going to get!
Sorry, the line "Life is" reminded me of the movie Forest Gump, which my children are watching right at this very moment in time!
That is a great quote though. I used to associate with all sorts of negative people who thrived on drama. I could not break away from that world although I wanted to for many years. Then one day I did and life is so much more amazing now. Opportunities opened up for me that never could have if I had stayed in that negative world. Life is too short to focus on negative issues. We must take joy in every single moment of our life.

That's a very good saying! I specially like the last sentence, that "Falling down is a part of life and getting back up is living". It's very inspiring. Right now I can say that I can totally relate to the whole saying. Wow, it's like I landed on your discussion for a purpose. I myself have been doing some thinking about "walking away from all the drama" in my life and the people who created all those drama -- from childhood, to gradeschool, to highschool, to college, and even after college! I need a fresh start. I just gave birth to my baby daughter and I don't want her to grow up with a mom that lives a life in the past -- a past so full of drama that even thinking about it depresses me. A fresh start. That's exactly what I need.
Thank you so much for sharing this saying. You've touched one life today :)

Hi Veronizm, in my 53 years of earthly existence, I think I have tasted enough bitterness and sorrow mostly in surviving a retarded marriage that has gone through the baptism of fire. Thanks the Lord I have survived unscathed which only made me stronger to face anything under all conditions. Remember, when the world becomes like a wild storm, the most beautiful shelter is God.

That saying holds a lot of truth to it however, when it's your own family member like in my case, it's my parents, it's hard as hell to walk away. For years, my mother would cause a lot of drama but we stayed because of my dad. We didn't know if we'd have him the next holiday so I wanted to spend every moment I could with him. Now things are much better in the way of how mom treats me so it's easier to stick around whereas before it was so incredibly hard. I honestly think she has a mental disorder from several things in her background that has happened to her and is why she has these mood swings that she has but they last for so deg gone long!
That is really good advice however, it's not so easy to follow it though.

It all depends on every situation. In your case there need to be a little adjustment to accommodate a difficult situation. And I see that you're doing your best to make your parents life comfortable. Taking care of our aged parents is our responsibilities and our payback time.

Hello my friend zandi458 Ji,
Our side , no one worships 'SETTING-SUN' we always worship and welcome 'RISING SUN'. I think to get old is a last curse by creator. But throughout my life , I have always enjoyed, there might be many ups and downs, they are like Days and Nights, there are only temporarily. Every moment of the life must be utilized with full zeal. Afterall, all our deeds are responsible for our present days, why we should be afraid of anything. Let's enjoy. Take care. Thanks.
May God bless You and have a great time.

Hi may, people who wants to see success in life should be armed with the wisdom of your words -no one worships 'SETTING-SUN' we always worship and welcome 'RISING SUN' It was what exactly what my great grand parents did as their everyday routine by waking up very early to kick start their daily routine. Until this day we still benefit the fruits of their labor. Unfortunately, none of the new generation can continue this kind of routine.

Hello my friend zandi458 Ji,
So nice of you for your immediate and prompt positive comments. At present we too fall under same catagory of parents/grand-patrents and also great grand parents. It would surely satisfy me that you continue this message to your children and grand children by telling them that this has been confirmed by Indian as well. Let's understand the life. Remember, we can never expect, what we think, we should always be prepared to dace un-eventualities in our life. Once we get what we want, there will be end of our desires. Thanks.
May God bless You and have a great time.

Agree and wish to add some lines of Stevenson...
The day returns and brings us the pretty round of irritating concern and duties. Help us to play the man, help us to perform them with laughter and kind faces, let cheerfulness abound with industry. Give us to go blithely on our business all this day, bring us to our beds weary and content and undishonored, and grant us in the end
the gift of sleep. Amen.
One of the illusions of life is that the present hour is not the critical, decisive hour. Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year......... emerson.
All the best.

Yeah, life is too short and we should enjoy the most of it.You should learn to forget the things that cause you pain and use it as an advantage to keep you strong to move on and to never walk the same path again.Forgive the people who treats you wrong and face tomorrow with a smile.

Yeah, the best thing for you to do is used this as an advantage to have the strength to move on and share the fruits of your efforts to others and to prove to the people who puts you down that you can do it yourself with out their help.

I completely agree with you on this and I am about to do this soon. When I move I will be leaving the drama behind and get a new fresh start!
