What you usually do to maintain readership?

I have heard different suggestion regardless actively promoting your blog. It's about comments on your blog. Some people create blog even without comments section. They do not want wasting their time to answer comments.They said not only wasting time but sometimes the comments also not related with their contents or even scam or only promote visitor websites or blogs..What do you think? How important the comment section and reply to visitor comments for you?

It depends on the time of blog you have, I have a few blogs, some have comments while others don't, it's not always necessary, you can usually tell if it's necessary by the amount and type of comments you get, if all you get are comments that say "good post" type thing then you don't really need that, it doesn't add to your content and the user isn't getting anything out of it.
