Hello Lotters,
I've been thinking..maybe i should have considered advancing myself before the coming of the holidays. I recall last December I had the biggest earnings in mylot (w/ slicethepie earnings). but unfortunately, those sellers from the kiosk has increase their gift prices to 10 to 15%. so much for the large earnings, I lost it in just two days
But knowing it's not peak season this month. I am planning to buy one or two once a month. that i can save some for myself for next few months. anyways, just wanna let you know, I can't resist giving gifts in Christmas.
Have nice day

Hello Asliah, Yah, most specially now that the "ber" months have finally started. but i am more focused in buying another computer even though it's not really new. but that remains to be seen and i have to think about it if it's really that important. Have a Nice day.

It is really wiser to shop gifts earlier for the forthcoming holiday season. But I would suggest you do it by September to October when the shops are holding big SALE because they are disposing the old stocks for the new ones intended for the Christmas season. Come late November to December, when the 13th month pay and bonuses have been given out, the shops will increase prices indeed as you yourself have experienced. So if you have the money shop early in order to save. And besides you will also save yourself from the hassle of the crowd.

If you have a lot of people to buy for then I would start early. I will be starting mine in September. I make homemade gifts so I know I have to start soon. With the bad economy it is wise to start shopping as early as possible and to set up a budget. I think it is great you can start early.

It's so common those price rises that one could never have enough savings for when the time comes. I think it's a good idea to begin buying gifts anticipated and keep them until the Christmas or whatever celebration.
That reminds me of the "casual" price rises of clothing and gas and electricity when it comes summer or winter. They always raise the prices to get most earnings when the most buyers are likely to need it.

I would buy things through out the year, if I knew my kids would enjoy them once they opened them at Christmas time. I tend to wait until after Thanksgiving, because they have major sales, so I just get things then. It also gives me time to save up my money.

I think it's a good thing to buy Christmas presents early. That way you don't have to buy them all at one time at Christmas. I usually start buying stuff starting in August and just keep the gifts in a box until time to wrap them.

I think it is early to buy Christmas gifts now as it is just July. I will not buy the gifts so early. Try to imagine if later you find a better gift, then you will feel regretful to buy the current present. More time shall give you more chance to find the best gifts. I will prepare it at least in December.

Of course it is. You get a lot of choices and time to look around and get the best deals for the item that you were thinking of purchasing. You would also have the time to change your mind about it.
You did mention about the difference in price. The nearer it is to the holiday, the higher the price of the item.
Goodluck shopping.^_^

I usually start about now and then keep them all together until Christmas. If they are no all together, I will forget what I already have. I also try and keep a list of what I have bought and how much I spent. I am disabled and buy a lot of stuff thru catalogs or online and they can't be delivered after the snow starts. My driveway is 175 feet long and it isn't always plowed, and my sidewalk never is. It is a pain for me to go to the post office and pick stuff up, so I start early. I also make a lot of gifts and I start them early, so I can be sure of finishing on time. The bad thing is, if you start early, someone's taste might change, or they may buy the item for themselves. Also right before Christmas the retailers usually have big sales and you might end up paying more.

I think buying xmas presents early is a wise thing to do. Thinks are cheaper. At xmas time they always jack this price up. Xmas can be so stressful. If you get your shopping done early this is one less thing you have to worry about and maybe you can in joy it better. Now you may not want to buy things like cloths to early because if they do not fit you may not be able to take them back.
Have a blessed day!

There are gifts which could be termed time sensitive, clothing for children, videos etc, but there are other gifts which are not and are easily purchased in advance.
I used to joke about starting my Christmas shopping on Dec 26th. It wasn't really a joke.
I really would buy presents literally from the day after Christmas until the middle of November.
I found it saved me a lot of hassles, no Christmas rush shopping, few crowds in stores, no worries over orders coming in on time...it just made it easier on me and no one ever complained come Christmas.
The bonus I got out of it all was that I always had a few things I could offer as gifts for the unexpected event. Usually a birthday I had forgotten...LOL
You'll be able to take advantage of the sales, stretch your present buying budget a bit farther, and reduce the stress of the Christmas shopping to nearly none.
Before I go, here's a little trick taught to me by a friend years ago.
Stores often have 'sample size' items on sale, pick up a few of these every chance you get, shampoos, conditioners, lotions, oils, soaps etc. With a bag, some tissue paper and a bit of ribbon you can make lovely gift baskets or bags. These are great for those surprise gifts, stocking stuffers, the new friend, etc.

I always tend to be on the look-out of suitable Xmas presents all year round. If I see something that would suit somebody I know, I will get it and put it away. This can often happen in July and August. As Xmas gets nearer, I find it much easier not to have to go and fight my way through shopping malls, as that is something I really dislike. The cost is also spread out so it is not so noticable at Xmas time. I am one of those people who is not a great lover of Xmas anyway. Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to just send cards to let people know you are thinking of them? Well, that's my philosophy anwyway, but none of my family or friends tend to agree with me. _Derek

Me neither...I love Christmas gifts and it is unfortunate that it is so expensive so starting early and taking advantage of cheaper prices is a great idea. I like to do that too as well as put a little away from around August so that the pain is lessened when I actually start shopping around November or so. Good on you for being well organised!
