My Mom Is Really Sick

She's been sick for a few days, maybe a week but on the 4th of July, dad called me and told me that she was having a hard time breathing but she had decided to wait till the next day (Tuesday) when her doctors office was opened again. Dad asked me to come up and see if I could put some sense into her and see a doctor that day instead. Hubby and I went up there and found her in the bathroom after taking a shower and she was huffing and a puffing trying to talk and breathe so I told her to stop talking and listen to me that I was taking her to the doctor today because she needed to see one for her breathing was horrible. She agreed so after helping her get dressed, we went straight out the door. Now, my dad has COPD plus the after affects of TB and lung cancer (he was treated for TB and he beat lung cancer however, the scar tissue from both makes it hard for anyone to breathe) and so he's having a hard time breathing too so hubby stayed with him. (I don't know why they haven't put him on oxygen.... yet!)
Anyway, I took mom to one of those clinics that's open when the doctors offices are closed. She had a chest x-ray and found that she has pnenomia. The doctor gave her a shot of antibiotics and sent her home. By the time I got her in bed, her fever had broke which is a great thing but yesterday she still wasn't feeling good but then in the afternoon she was up watching the news on TV so that was a great sign. Well, so much for that because today she's really weak. She was supposed to go back to the doctor for a check up but she's too weak to make it so hubby and I are going up there to see if we can carry her out the door to the car and take her to the doctors office. It's going to be a challenge but one that we're willing to take on because she's my mom and I love her!
As you probably remember, the hospital near them is the pits. It's worse than the pits so she doesn't want to go there however, we may be able to convince her to go to the hospital that's near me because it's a much better hospital than the one near them and she'll get great care, no doubt.
Anyway, I need prayers from all of you my friends! With all her ailments, she's really really sick! So if I don't get back to your discussions or even my own, please know I will when I have the time to. Hugs to all of you!!

Hi carmelanirel, I think it got about as bad as it could get before she would've passed out from lack of oxygen. She couldn't get but maybe two or three words out before she was gasping for air. Dad was able to get her to the doctor yesterday and she had a breathing treatment which helped her get some of the infection up which helps. She's still really weak but she's trying to regain some strength by getting up and moving around. It's going to be a few days before she's back to her old self.
Can I ask you why you're unable to pray? Is it because you're of a different religion? Just curious!

Because I am totally ticked off..My husband is a jerk and the only possible way I can find peace around him is if I completely turn away from God..He is one of those typical Christians, the ones that cause many to become atheists, which I am going there, I still believe, but won't pray anymore...

Please sweetie don't that jerk husband of yours turn you away from God! I do know what you mean but that's not God's fault. No no. Try letting your husband think you've turned away and pray in private so he doesn't harp on you about religion. God understands and He loves you so much!
About my mom, she's getting better.... slowly but getting better nonetheless. I've been so busy running back and forth helping her and dad out that I'm either to tired or it's late coming home that I just haven't had time to let you and everyone else know how she's been doing. I'm using my phone to try to catch up a bit. Thanks for caring!

You have my prayers every day and for mom and dad too.
Just remember,God doesn't take you to it,unless he can get you out of it..
I had to remember that when I had to have open heart surgery in Sept.
So, you dig deep and ask God to help you thru this storm.
He always listens :)
hugs, quita

With both parents needing attention, your hands seem full right now! I think you love your mom more than your dad (yes, we too choose between parents just as parents choose between siblings LOL). Its really great that you have such an understanding and cooperative husband and I wish speedy recovery for both your parents.

How is your Mom doing? I just got diagnosed with Bronchitis and got a round of Antibiotics and cough syrup so I can relate with feeling lousy. My Doctor is hoping that this works so it does not turn into something worse. But when you are feeling weak it is hard to get yourself motivated but Glad you live close enough to try and be a help for her as well.

So sorry to hear about your mum Cats. You are doing the right thing for her and that is important. Your support is paramount for her and your dad. I will certainly send prayers to you and your family with the hope you mother will be okay real soon. Pneumonia does take a lot out of a person which certainly explains her weakness. All the best to you and yours. Take care I will keep the prayers coming...

Wow..I hate to hear she is so ill. I hope you can get her to the hospital closer to you..the better one. There are hospitals here that are the pits too and I don't blame her for not wanting to go to those. I know it makes it harder for you though.
Take care and see you when you get back.

I am so proud to hear that you are taking good care of your mom. May your mom get well very soon. Have you also tried calling the doctor to come to your house? And if she is really weak, I think it is a good idea to take her to the hospital. I'll pray that your mom get well soon. I am sure she is so happy and so proud of you.

Hi thetis, my mom is getting better.... slowly but getting better nonetheless. Doctors don't come to our homes here in the USA. We have to go to their office or if it's really bad, the patient is to go to the hospital. Anyway, I've been so busy running back and forth helping her and dad out or running her to the doctor two times that I'm either to tired or it's late coming home that I just haven't had time to let you and everyone else know how she's been doing. About your mom, has she been treated for TB? If she's had the treatment then she should be doing better than she had been. My husband was exposed to TB while he was stationed in Korea but was treated for it and never had any problems from it, thank God.

so sorry to hear about all that. im sure our prayers will help. can you inform the doctor that a machine for oxygen needs to be in the house for both your parents they need to understand that. i dont get it. anyway, here iam with a machine, paying 40 bucks a month and have only used it about 3 times a few minutes in 6 mths! i know. ive been trying to see if i can buy one instead of renting. what a waste of money, huh?

About dad, with mom getting so sick, they both may have found some new doctors to go to instead of the ones they've been going to so hopefully they'll see the need for him to be on oxygen. We'll have to see how it goes. Thanks sweetie!

Oh wow this is truly sad and am glad though that you were able to immediately go over and convince her to go to the doctor. I will definitely and continually say a prayer for her Cats you can certainly count on that.
I do hope you and your hubby will also take of yourselves as she will need the both of you. I am glad your hubby too is available to help and get her to the doctor also.
Take care Cats and do not worry about commenting back as your mother right now needs you.
