As daft as this may sound I don't really know how to make friends on here?
I have had one person add me on here, but I have a feeling they are a spammer on here, no offense meant but they just added me as soon as I signed up. I have not really manged to spark a conversation with some one here yet, will this just happen or do you have make an awkward post like this?

Welcome to myLot. 
As the others mentioned on how to request friends; by simply visiting the profiles. I usually say to new members to take their time in requesting this way you will between interactions know if both have similar interests.

You may be right, some are spammers, but I have question for you..How does it feel when you ask for friendship and it gets rejected? The simplest way to know you are welcome in a certain site is to have friends, however how quick it may be.
It happened to me once in Facebook. I was a new member by then without a friend, even people I knew had no yet signed up for Facebook. So the only way to have friends was to request for it from other countries... My first trial was rejected, I closed that account and opened a new one, I felt so humiliated.
Having that in mind I always request friendship first before doing anything else in any site I register in.

That is very harsh, I can't believe that there are such cruel people out there. But saying that talking to people online can feel a little faceless.
