I have a 10 year old daughter who is watching to much tv. Even when she is studying she still has to hear the tv in the background. We are having a hard time now to have her focus. How long is long and whats the best way to minimize her watching or having her the discipline to study without those things at the background

The best way to help your child is to give her a rule she must follow whether she likes it or not. Set only a specified and limited time for TV. Tell her she can't watch TV unless she's done with her assignment and that is a rule. Make sure you enforce that rule strictly. Let her know that you are serious here and if she violates then you have to enforce some punishment so she'd realize she really has to obey. Children should not be allowed to do whatever they wish. Of course they are kids and they don't know yet which is right and which is wrong. We as parents should be the one to train them in the right way.

Maybe your kid can study more with sounds.
I use to be like that when i am still studying.
I can concentrate more with music in the background.
Actually until now,I am still doing same thing,I can write more here in mylot while listening to music.
Just observe her, that maybe gives her more energy or so.

First off turn it off. Your the parent. My kids love tv and I have and almost did disconnect the cable, but were in a 2 year contract. All the more reason for me to teach them discipline in how much tv they can watch. If she needs a background sound I would try classical music. Her job as a student is to make sure her homework is done and turned in. My daughter is 8 and if it dosent get turned in its her fault. I remind her about homework, i help her with it, but sometimes she forgets about a sheet. I tell her your job is to make sure its done. when she is doing homework there is no tv on and she has a designated homework spot. I let my daughter unwind a bit before rushing into homework. I also have mine run outside and burn off some energy. I let her have a snack when she gets home and watches a little tv. Than homework and play outside, than dinner and soon its time to get ready for bed. You can always put a chart together where she has to earn tv time. This will hopefully get her to try new things and start to focus on homework more.

My children get an hour of TV a day and to be honest, they barely ever watch it. When they start school though there is no TV or other distractions while doing homework or any school work. Period. I don't want them to fall behind or anything like that.
