My favorite genre is high fantasy, which is the sub-genre of fantasy where the events of the story take place in an invented or parallel world. I read loads of high fantasy novels all the time, but there really aren't a whole lot of high fantasy films. The ones I can name off the top of my head (and I don't think they're all great movies) are Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, Eragon, and Willow. You get broader when you move into the general fantasy category, which would include Harry Potter, Prince of Persia, The Spiderwick Chronicles, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief, Dragonheart, and Twilight. I really recommend Willow and Dragonheart. Willow is an older film from the 1980s, but it's fun and adventurous. Dragonheart is from the 90s, and while it's not a high fantasy film, it carries some of the scope and majesty of one, being set in medieval times and all.

There are several fantasy adventure movies but the Lotr movies are difficult to compete with as they are considered some of the best. There are the classics like Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Alien which mixes in science fiction. Movies like Stardust and Neverending story are more geared at the adolescent market like the various Narnia movies and Avatar, but the story's can be fun to watch. Things like The Mummy, are entertaining, as are most comic book action stories, like Tansformers, Dark Knight, X-men. I enjoyed Sleepy Hollow with Johnny Depp, which is more a fantasy horror. The following has a list of 100 films, I don't know how good they are but it is a good starting point: http://www.flickchart.com/Charts.aspx?genre=Fantasy+Adventure&perpage=100 The problem with fantasy movies is that it includes a wide variety of genres from science fiction to horror, depending on the movies you prefer. I hope this helps.

Hi katie: After the lord of the rings I became a fan of Harry Potter. Unfortunetly it's over I can't find a story like thge lord of the rings at this moment. Maybe I'm wrong. There are some interesting sagas that I'm following but they talk about different subjects, so they are far different from the storyline of TLOTR. They are more like mistery books and stuff, which are also great. ALVARO
