I took my kids to the library tonight for a little science show. It was our first time at this library since we just moved. They have so many things for kids to do. We are going back friday for arts and crafts. Than Saturday for reading to dogs. Its awesome finding free things to do with the kids. What are some fun things you do with your kids for free?

how old are your kids? They love the activities too? if Yes, its good=] Actually,I have a 6 year old brother, I and my family never took him to the library... We just gave him a lot of freedom instead of out-going by himself, because we found that freedom and childhood is more important than the cultivation. However, we are worried that he dont focus on the study...even though he can still get a good marks(always full marks) He usually play the broad game and play online on my phone. Are there any suggestion?

hi both of you six is a good time to acquaint a child with all the wonderful things a library offers and there are programs for children that age that all kids do love reading and it will help so much in school too. I used to wo rk with the children's librarian during story hour and was so impressed with how rapt the kids were with Gayles story telling., they were so well behaved as they were engrossed in her tales.

My daughter is 8 and my son is 5. I give my kids the freedom to be kids, but under surpervision and with rules. They have a scheduale so they know what to expect. The library is a wonderful place to go. Kids love books and reaidng to a child from an infant is a good way to teach them a love for books also to focus on one thing and expand their attention. Video games are over stimulating so is watching tv. My kids love video games and tv, but I dont allow them to be entertained by them all day. When you give a child to much freedom its hard to bring them back in and teach them rules. Kids need guidance from adults and to learn how to be respectful and what they need to focus on. I look as Im raising little adults. My kids will have to work someday and if they dont know how to be responsible now for their school work how will they at work? The library gives my kids the freedom to chose a book and learn from it. Also they do story times and arts and crafts, etc. We also enjoy going to the park or swimming. Focusing together as a family is very important. Every Friday is pizza and movie night. We eat dinner together every night, give or take a couple nights. I read them a story in the evening. The best time for a child to learn is now. The older they get the harder it is to learn. Our brains just work that way. Their little brains are like sponges. I hope it all goes well with your brother and I would just try introducing him to new things. Maybe he is getting bored. Kids love to explore new places and share what they know.

Try your library and see what activities it has. Cant go wrong there. Swimming is always fun when the weather is nice. Volunteering is great. We havent done it yet, but Ill be looking into it. Ill be finding out more since Im homeschooling in the fall. I wantt o make sure my kids the most socially and intellectually. The charter school Im going through has a ton of field trips so we wont find ourselves bored. Plus we have a ton of other things to do.Also our church is offering some summer camps for free.

I currently do not have any kids. However, I worked for a kids nature camp for twelve years and we did many activities for free. We went to the free petting zoo, went on hikes through the woods, made crafts out of recycled things, went to local parks, went to free childrens movies, and we did alot of other things. It was really fun.

WOnderful world of knowledge for when you do have kids. Free is always great. Kids are expensive enough and soemtimes the free things are the most fun. Our trip to the library last night was a great trip. We go tomorrow for arts and crafts and sat for reading with dogs, plus we get to check out new books. Things to keep us busy for days.

hi tink as I am an ex page who worked in the Tustin Library fro 23 years I am well up on all the free things our library system gives out. Different libraries may vary but most have summer reading programs for little kids, sp cial freebies for teens and lots of different things for adults too.I sent my son to the library a lot when he was young and he was hooked on the computers too . our new library ,I have not got to work in it, as I retired when it was just being started to build is just fantastic. there are many computers for public use and a computer lab also.I am told their freebies for kids is just out of this world so folks really your public library has a lot of free things that are fun for all ages.I went back after work one night to see the free show on our solar system by some renowned scientists and for a free lecture it was just amazing. I learned so much tired as I was.My husband was with me and he was also astounded at the show although he was worried about me having worked all day, I just cannot say enough about the US and its public libraries they are A one in my books.

You are so right. We went last night to a science show for kids and just really enjoyed it. We go tomorrow for the arts and crafts and Saturday they have where the kids come in and read to dogs. Awesome. Teaching them respect for life and helping them read better. A dog wont judge so there is no better thing to read to. Plus we got to check out some books. My kids love looking through the books. Every Wednesday evening there is aosmething new for the kids. Next is about pirates and an hour before that they are having a kids game night on the wii. My kids love the wii and love playing with others. We will do the game night, get some dinner across the street and than go back to learn about pirates. I recomend it to everyone with young kids. Enjoy your library its free and the kids learn and love it.

Libraries are GREAT places to go with kids and it's always free. I dont have kids of my own but I work with kids and I"m always looking for free activities. A few things we've done recently; made a picnic lunch and went to the park to eat it, story time at the library, baked cookies and delivered them to charities (once to ronald mcdonald house, once to a nursing home) went to a dog shelter and took some dogs on a walk, took a nature walk through the woods. Now granted we've spent plenty of money doing the big fun things, but sometimes it's nice to find the simple things to do.

I like the baking cookies and donating them. Also taking some dogs for a walk. Ill have to look into those. Picnics might have to wait for a cooler day, but I know they would love it. Thank you for the ideas.

I'm not married and have no kids but I do remember having much fun with mom when I was little. We used to go to parks with our bikes and spend our Sundays playing there. Or went to somewhere far for picnics, mostly in jungle like places. It was fun and free. Miss those days.

I want my kids to have fond memories. Also keep them busy and wear them out for now. I feel more accomplished when we do something fun together than I do if we just stay home.

I want to teach to them some moral stories. And wanna bring them to historical places like tours and to museums. There the children can do enjoy and as well as they gain knowledge. Especially children wants their friends company, so it is better to inform to their friends also.

We have a park nearby which also has museums and the zoo. Certain days out of the month some of the museums and exhibits are free to residents. So I marked those down as well so we can visit them. I think its great to subject your children to many different things. I think it helps them to have an open mind and better understanding. We like to try new restaraunts as well, ethnic places. My kids have a more vairety in their palate than a lot of kids. no they dont like everything they try and no they dont try all new things easily, but we have them try it and experience it. I know some kids who will only eat 3 or 4 things.Kids love to explore their world.
