BASICALLY FRIENDSTER IS OFFICALLY NOW A ONLINE GAMING SITE.. Hah! Not even that can impress me, i think you have been doing a lot of gigs lately trying to be alive and competitive with the social networking era since you've been beaten by this so called famous facebook and twitter. oh, yeah?! what about mylot and mypage5, this Internet social networking businesses is going the WRONG WAY. now, friendster is following them! Just Look at this letter that I got from the CEO.. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Dear fellow Friendster members, As many of you may know, Friendster announced that it is re-launching itself as a social gaming portal and launched a beta version of the new Friendster a couple of weeks ago. The beta version was well received. I am pleased to announce that the new Friendster is going live thereby enabling all our users to login to the new Friendster using your existing Friendster username and password. Friendster has touched the lives of many. Since MOL, the company I founded acquired Friendster in early last year; many people have come up to me to tell me how Friendster has changed their lives. Many have told me that they have found their life partners over Friendster. Just last week, a successful Internet entrepreneur in Singapore told me that her success was triggered by promoting her business on Friendster. Friendster pioneered social networking and ignited the social media industry that has created billion dollar companies such as Facebook and Twitter, companies that may not have existed in their present form if not for Friendster's early innovation. Today, Friendster is in a unique position to take advantage on the growth of social gaming. Through its relationship with MOL, which has a 10 year history in working with gaming companies, Friendster has both the experience and track record to make innovations in this space.Today, as Friendster reinvents itself as a social gaming destination that enables its users to create multiple avatars, play games and enjoy rewards; I hope that all of you will wish us luck and continue to support us in our new reincarnation. The new Friendster is not perfect and we will continue to add new games and features such as localization and rewards over the next few months. Our team is working hard on adding these features and welcomes your suggestions and comments on how we can better serve your needs as a social gaming and entertainment destination. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support and hope that all of you will enjoy the new Friendster as Friendster continues to innovate to serve and entertain you better. Yours truly, Ganesh Kumar Bangah Chief Executive Officer ceo@friendster.com I have checked the site and here it is now. not a referral link. http://www.friendster.com There was some "FEED BACK" option and i didn't hesitate to give on on this matter. you should have venture into a MORE FORUM social network EARNING SITE rather than a gaming site. you'd never win against facebook. and besides, they aren't gonna be famous for that long as more people get into the social earning sites like mylot and mypage5. why can't you just do us a favor and start sharing revenues with the users. I wonder, what the HELL Happened to our Pictures there!... * The CEO happens to be from India, well that's great! can some of our Indian friends from MYLOT to tell this GUY that's taking friendster into whole NEW WRONG DIRECTION* Because I can promise right now, I'd never go back to that site again... PS: I saw a lot of FEED BACK and a lot are very very ANGRY PEOPLE Photos, comments, APP and others are now GONE! For Used to be friendster members, how do you feel?

I don't really have plans to re-open my Friendster account even before I've read this. It's because they're just not in the level of facebook and twitter. I like your suggestion to make it an earning site...but it's still a tough competition for friendster since there are already a lot of sites that pay online (based on what is the purpose of their crappy site). I've heard the news that they're deleting the data people have inputted in their profiles - pictures, comments, about me info, html, etc. I even had a hard time of logging in as well as retrieving the data. Well, past is past...final and irrevocable.

Hello alphenor, They're too late i believe, they should have made plans like convert with another company to form a social paying site. which they didn't and now they tried this new gig which doesn't work.they have deleted everything indeed. why are they so like that! i never saw a news like that for real.

It was featured for two days in ABS-CBN, GMA and TV5 since they announced it in the afternoon. Well even if it is a paying gaming site, it still wouldn't be as popular as it was before people have left it for Facebook. There are already sites that are trusted by online earners/gamers - GameCoins, InboxDollars, etc.

Hi! I've left Friends a very long time ago. I just didn't see the point of being a member of two social networking sites. And most of my friends were getting more active in Facebook and slowly getting dormant in Friendster. I still had a few friends active in Friendster then but I couldn't check both sites every now and then so I decided to delete my Friendster account and just have my Facebook account. I guess a lot of Friendster members are not active anymore in using the site as a social networking site. Maybe the owner noticed that all the members do were play games so he decided to make it as an online gaming site. Cheers.

Hello secret-bear, I often go back to friendster at least once in a while. but if i knew this was going to happen, i should have told my friends. or at least a friend of mine who didn't consider using facebook. unfortunately, most of them are no longer in FB, but some choose to be active still.

I got that same message too and that was when I figured out that the owner as Indian (if it was really the true nationality). Anyway, they already mentioned that starting this June, they will revamp everything so they gave you an option to save the pictures you posted on your profile. I just followed the instruction given, so I did not have problems on saving the files I wanted. I don't know now about those who did not comply and I don't have to worry about them if they are not satisfied, this site was still free, it was at its good before Facebook came to the scene. People will ever be hard to please no matter what. I still open my friendster since I still have friends who communicate there, but I don't condemn the site just like what you said you will never go back, well its your choice anyway and its your opinion. Even if they won't be able to level their very best on FB and other sites, so what, as long as I can use it, what's the problem there?

Hello strawberry, Well, most of those files remained in my Personal Computer. so, I really didn't mind loosing those files. but what really pissed me off is that they surrender to facebook! and then tries to mingle with it by converting into a freaking game site, which i strongly believe totally worthless to meexcept children.

Hello nurseclaire, Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to watch the new last month. therefore, I was completely surprised myself with this problem. I was shocked at first and then mad, but later i realized, they have surrendered. I have some of those pics saved in my Computer but I didn't upload them all in friendster most of it are now in FACEBOOK.

I used to have a Friendster. Until writing testimonials got boring of cause. Then i stopped using any social network until Facebook came along. Now that so many people have moved to Facebook, nobody will want to use Friendster anymore. I find it rather amusing as now you can sigh in using your FACEBOOK account. Why would you use a social network to logging into another social network. Plus, I gave Friendster a go just now. But it was a mega fail. Facebook has so many games that are even better. They probably move to a social gaming network just as an attempt to win back their hearts by copying Facebook.

Hello alvanloh, They made a HUGE mistake, they never should have done it in the first place. instead of just selling it some malaysian company that's interested more in games, they should have explored the Social network earning opportunities instead of GAMES?. this was a huge mistake on their behave, they're going to die out because of this.

I received a similar letter, but I have not checked my Friendster account yet. It would certainly great if Friendster admin made a relaunch or improved the site. However, I think it cannot still get even with Facebook's popularity. Although, am not a FB fanatic too. I guess, yes it would be a great idea if Friendster can turn to a social networking and earning site because that is more a hit.

Hello maean, They would have more people there (me included) because friendster were still popular today compare to mylot. but they made a wrong move! with that more people are leaving for facebook for good. but I've sent messages there in their community forum to lure some people here, unfortunately, they didn't take my spam messages well

Hi! I used to have an account in friendster but I never really used it. Back then, for me it's just so complicated. I don't know. You're right. If a site has gone completely wrong for the members, no way would it gain trust again. They're already ruined. This is how members feel -- With so many sites now, they should learn to go with the flow of competition (but now this way). I think they should close. Their name is really messed up already. Go make a new site with a completely different name (and don't even say "from the makers of Friendster"). What do you think of my suggestion? I think if they're up to games, make some Facebook games that would really drive users crazy and addicted! If you can't beat them (Facebook and other social sites), join 'em.

Hello Bannybanzie, Friendster is what made me interested in social networking, even my brother was mad seeing me active in friendster. a lot of members are mad and saying good bye with a negative memory of it. unfortunately, there are some members there that are completely into friendster still. and my long lost school mate was one of them. i think they should have change the name so that people won't come back anymore.
