I asked my brother this, why you like to be a couch potato all day long playing pc and doing some work which is just giving cents when in fact there are possible jobs outside that you can try and gives you fix income.
Are online works really an escape goat for today's people who really can't find decent jobs or just lazy to hunt for work?
Do you happen to be one of those who work online because it is much convenient to you because you earn more than the regular income outside? I want to know you views here.

I don't totally agree with this. I, for one, have a decent job but I do try to work online. Also, my online income is meager compared to what I am earning in real life work. But I do believe that some people earning big online can just drop their offline work because of convenience andwhat they are earning online is enough for them already. I guess also that those people who don't want a job in the real world will tend to try the opportunity of earning online. I also know people can be full time in earning online and doesn't really need an offline job because their time is devoted solely to online earning.

I know some people who are able to support their family's by working from home online so just because some of us are not able to find online opportunities like others have does not mean that working offline is the best and only option
Some parents prefer not to leave their children in day care or with a babysitters all day while the work away from home, and have opted to work at home using their computers
I haven't found any online programs with full earning potential yet, but I know of others who have so I prefer not to judge those who use online earning programs or work from home.

its not judging, its just a mindset that my brother has to decide. As I have said I don't have problems with people working online, but if the pay is too low to support a family, then why not try to work outside. I am not even belittling people here who can do full time work, good for them at least they have heir means of income.
By the way, were Asians and most sites online favor hose from US, UK and other foreign countries, but anyway that does not mean that all Asians earn less, it depends on their ability and skills.

@agentgulaman- that's my heading right, I don't have problems with people who has already work offline but still needs to work online for a part time pay. I do believe also some people can work online full time if they get money more than their job offline, what I am referring to is that my brother tend to do work at home even for a year he earns cents!!! is that justifiable?

It's not an escape route but a temporary solution. There's nothing beats a decent job when it comes to assurance of getting paid. Moreover, it's hard to earn in online jobs especially if you don't have the guts to do your very best in whatever you do online to earn money.

Its not like that my friend.start of every work may be slow but when you do ur own work,u use ur skill and as more and mord experience u earn there.that become ur asset and it open ur ways of wealth.if u invest your much time but some of money in stock market and forex, may be in start u löose some but in last u will be a long last winner.and its also a truth that if we do not loose anythng we can never learn anything.

It's the total reverse of what you think. Remember that people were able to work online because there are people behind the sites where you work/earn money. Without those people physically present at their workplaces, people like us would not have sites like this one.

@ Alphenor- I hope so for some it would be "Temporary" but for my brother, it's been a year since he is like this. I can't just imagine how he waste time ,he is getting old and he is still supported by my parents because he has no regular job.

It's not about escaping anything it's more about having alternative methods of earning and also adding an additional income to whatever forms of income people already have, yes it's convenient but it's not the only reason that people prefer this method of earning
Times are hard for a lot of people and finding jobs are not that easy for everyone, also some people can not get around so easily to find jobs, and some people are physically unable to get a standard job, and some people do online earning programs to complement there regular jobs
I can not speak for your brother but I don't like being a couch potato, and I'm not a couch potato, I'm just greatful that I have other ways to earn and I think a lot of other people are greatful too.

Well I think it's fine for a man to earn online as long as he's still open to earning outside the home as well and is willing to do whats necessary to support his or her family
Also keep in mind that not all online earning opportunities pay so low some pay hundreds some even pay a full salary of $500 or more, so we can't really say for sure what's more appropriate for man the most important thing is that a person man or woman does whats best for their family if that's working a standard job so be it.
Oh and I never said I was or wasn't the soul bread winner of the family I simply stated that I'm not a lazy person, and that I believe in hard work, and that it doesn't matter if you are a stay at home parent or work outside the home hard work is hard work.

@apples- well at least your not a man to be the bread winner for the family, earning online is good, but to stick to it even if you just earn cents well, that is for me questionable, why not move a muscle especially if a man like him should be responsible enough so that he can be able to help and support a family.

@ Vikramsingh - Okay, so if you don't want people to boss you around, then I guess you need to put up your own company or business to earn, by the way how much do you earn online, is it enough to support your family?

Hello strawberrychocodahi,
In my opinion online jobs won't pay you that much that you can rely on it for feeding yourself & your family. To leave offline job just because you are earning money online i would say is wrong.
Online jobs are better if you do them as part time job for additional money but i don't think it should be taken as the prime source of money for that you should always have some offline job.
Your brother should understand it as he is not able to make enough money from these sites thats why he is being supported by your father for money. He should start searching for offline job as you said he is getting old.

You really can't beat good hard work in a regular job, whatever kind of job it is. But now people are searching for more ways to make a little extra income and some people just want to be in the home, in there comfort zone while they earn there dough. If you can make enough money to pay your way sittin' on your butt i say why not :)

yes true Hamptonflip, I don't worry for people who already has work and yet works online, that is really great, but to depend on online work alone, for years of having measly pay, well that I really do mind especially if you are a man, thanks for your response :)

I work online. It was my choice so I could stay home for my kids. I made much more working in an office. But the trade off is worth it. Some people may be lazy. But most people who work from home or online are hard working folks like people who work outside the home. At least that is my experience.

@ersmommy- I am happy to hear working at home moms, I have no problem with that, I am just questioning about my brother who has stayed at home for year even earning cents online, which should be much better if he also tried to work outside to help his family.

For most people working online willnever be a viable alternative to a job in the real world though for some it may such as people who become popular bloggers or video makers or if they start there own business selling a product or a service.Formost people who earn money online it will just be a little extra either to make life easier or to treat themselves. For most unemployed people their online work wont become an alternative to work but any extra money helps.Personally i save the money i earn and invest into bonds that give me a decent return and this return plus any more money i have earned online i use to buy more bonds untill i have a need for this money.
@strawberrychocodahi (4818)

@anklesmash- so my friend, do you work online as a part time job? if you invest on those bonds, do you have a regular paying job to back it up, since we cannot rely on economy status.

It;s not an escape goat. We are many who are inclined yo work online because there are so many available jobs that correlates to my skills and needs. It doesn't matter whether I work online or to a tangible office as long as I am earning and I think it's much practical and reasonable than being feed only by parents.
@strawberrychocodahi (4818)

7 Jul 11
@babyEj- at least earning outside has good fix income rather than to depend on online work, if only to earn cents, will not be sufficient enough to pay the electric bills and feed oneself is difficult to rely on, its good only if its a part time job, some money to add and help parents, not to burden them right?

I think that some people work from home because they are lazy but not all. I work from home because it is cheaper and more convenient for me. I have a daughter that I would have to pay a baby sitter and have to drag to the sitter.
I have a phone job so I could very easily do this from a call center.
I think some people work from home because they have a hard time dealing with people.

@emilyn- I guess you are right about that word.."hard time dealing with people". Maybe he has been like that for years not mingling with colleagues so he got used of staying indoors only

You subject heading seems to be true but there are people who still decide to combine a decent job and an online work to make a living. It is not too easy to make money online. This is because one has to be very creative and it also involve a lot of cost such as your time, experience, internet bills, computer, etc
Many people are deceived into thinking that once they enter the internet business they will immediately begin to reap a fortune. that is not true. It takes a lot of professional skills, painstaking time and effort to get things working as far as the internet is concerned.
Sometimes, you could be scammed in your attempt to make money online. It is really challenging to make money online. Those who are even making money online are not willing to reveal their secrets. They think it will make them to have an unwanted competitors.

Hello Naija- Its good if the case was working online for a part time job or for stay at home mother, I can understand that, but for men who are really depending fully to work online, I find it difficult because it is not enough, that is why my brother is just sticking to it, for me its really something that I don't really wanted for him.

According to me ,online job is not a simple thing and no one will pay you simply. It reqires a lot of hard work and consumes more time.I dont tell these is bad its good but we should not believe this alone. We know about ourselves and we have to choose a good one.Online job gives us more money. It can be done as partime jobs. But the important thing is that we muct be familiar with all the things and have good english knowledge.
My view is that we must not totally depend on online job and be at home,We can consider these as a partime and try for job that suits our carrier.
@strawberrychocodahi (4818)

@Radharavi- yes you are correct, it can be good as a side line job to consider work online. If only my brother would be industrious enough and patient enough to try apply outside so that he can be of help to his family. He is just getting old without decent job, I am really upset with that.

I can't speak for other people but I use online work as a method of adding to my income when it slows down. It just adds to my income allowing my to save up for the things that I need.
I have only recently discovered this site and it is helping use my time productively so I do not just waste time online I actually make a little extra cash while I am waiting for freelance work to come in.

@ Marxistmind- yes, at least good for people who earns something to add as a saving, but we will never encourage a person to just rely online as their bread and butter, unless they earn more than a regular fix income... some people online earn a lot, while some do earn cents but still lazy to find job outside.

That is a good question. for me i must work a fixed income job. I do not want to rely on some kind of work that reqires sells over the net or some kind of other work on the net. I can rely on a steady income evry two weeks and not worry if im getting payed.

I don't think one can earn enough to maintain a family from the earnings from online work, but may be good for time pass and avoid boredom..
i am retired after 46 years of teaching in colleges, my pension is more than enough for me.
Thanks for nice discussion
Best of luck.

Well, I think, if you want to discover a new method to make money, you can come to online work..
The people who want to be distinguished from the conventional 10am to 6 pm job, can do online work too, they're kind of acting smart, but who cares? They get paid!

Hi strawberry! I work online since I don't have a traditional 8-5 job. And yes, I haven't been working for some time now because I enjoy working online. Still, if given the chance to work again, when the pay is good and I like the job, I'd consider going back to the labor workforce.

you can not compare decent job which give you fix and regular income.it gives a sense of economical security.my aim on internet is just to find some extra income.which I can spend for fun purpose or something important too.I think everyone want some extra income which they can use to buy or use something they desire.
to earn a steady income online asks for a lot of talent, patience, skills and time to wait until you succeed here.there are some people who are conducting their business online and are successful.they do not have boss on their head they are their on boss.but I think they are very talented.
it is not easy to earn from internet if you do not have any special skills.so I think a decent job is required for almost all of us.
