This morning, I was surprised seeing an egg in the small pool I provided for my turty. She is alone since the first week of April, I wondered why she lays egg. I bought this turtle on the first week of April 2011. It's already July first week now. I was really amazed why she's giving out eggs. It's unexpected, in fact, she's alone for months.
I transferred the egg in another place where I can cover it with sand. Do you know how to take care of turtle eggs? I am not sure if I am keeping it right.

If there is no male, it would not seem worthwhile keeping this egg!
Turtles bury their eggs in sand that has to be just the right temperature and moisture level. The limited number of places that meet this requirement, is leading to a decline in the numbers of turtles worldwide. If you somehow found the exact conditions, that would be a miracle.

There is no male since April, I am sure of that but I do not know who's with her before I acquire this turtle. It seems like I could not accept the fact that she's laying egg. (?) Of course I am also happy because she's laying an egg but with questions in my mind, she was all alone for about 3 months...
Her place is sorrounded by peebles and a small pool only. So she could not bury the egg. Now I am trying to have her a bigger place to live with complete ameneties. :-)
Thank you so much for sharing your insight.

Wow! I have two turtles one male and one female... they are in a small pool. I hope the female will lay eggs.
So, how is your turtle now?
