It would be nice if people learned how to use the doorbell properly

Here's something that really bugs me and I'm sure it has to bug a lot of other people as well. When you ring the door bell, press it once gently. Do not hold it in for ten or fifteen seconds. Do not keep ringing it every three seconds. Doing that is not going to make me more likely to answer the door quicker. Its going to make more likely to have the urge to hurt you. If I don't answer the first time, its likely that I'm not home or I'm busy, therefore not in the fit state to entertain visitors. Something that if you know me, you should know that should be verified by calling before showing up. But that's another topic for another time.

Nicely said. Some people really ticks me off especially when you think they're in a hurry because they've rang the doorbell more than once but when you answer the door they'll say "Hi! I just dropped by to check on you!". This definitely makes my teeth grind.

Yep, that's pretty much the bottom of it all. People have to be mindful when using the doorbell. And speaking of which, I just used mine early this morning when I arrived home (night shift). Woke up my brother 4am in the morning just to let me in. How annoying was I?

Indeed that really bothers me a lot of the time. I mean it would be one thing if it was an absolute emergency. I mean that does happen and that is understandable. However, when you just drop by for a chit-chat because you have nothing better to do, that does in fact annoy me beyond pretty much everything else. Yet people really continue to do it. Its frustrating to say the least. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

Yes i agree with your sayings that door bell is not a game to play, just press it for one time and wait for a while till someone comes to open the door. Here i would like to suggest you for a video door phone, because it helps to secure your home from theft, and without opening the main door you can see and talk to the person who is outside your home premises.

Ah that is a pretty good suggestion. I'm sure many people would in fact agree with it to say the very least. There are a lot of times that people tend to think that they are going to really slam on that door bell, perhaps they think it is funny, perhaps they think it is amusing, but it is just one of those things where they are going to really be a level of frustration. Yet I do wonder how many people don't think that its wrong. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

OMG I do know what you mean. There are people who do come to my door and it is like their finger is stuck on the bell. Hello, if I did not make it there in under a minute, I might not be home.
I guess they think that continually ringing will get me to the door faster. If the bell was not so annoying I probably would make them wait forever. lol

Yes no kidding. Well I guess that are successful to an extent. They are going to annoy you into answering the door if you're home. I suppose that is a success. Or maybe they haven't realized that you need to just lightly tap it and it will ring. Trust me, its not kind of strength test. The door bell will ring trust me, it works that way. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

We had a doorbell before, but we had it disconnected. It became a toy of some of the kids in the neighborhood, a tool of discovery, the opening move of a game of catch-me-if-you-can, a test of eloquence in four-letter words when sputtering with anger, and a test of how one has deeply imbibed the patience of Job. To avoid the aggravation, we had it cut. Now, our neighbors have to hail us from the gate. Good exercise to their lungs and vocal chords. If they think we have not heard them, they alternate their shout with the metallic plinking of the gate which they achieve by repeatedly striking a coin at the iron part of the gate. It saves us electricity and exercises their hands too... hahahah...

Thankfully not too many problems with the children. Unless you consider twenty and thirty some olds to be children and given their mental maturity, that is actually something. There have been many people who have gotten their door bell removed for the simple fact that you did in fact mention. It can become an exercise of patience and let's face it, that's something that a lot of people in this day in age do not have. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

Hello Megamatt:
Sadly the world is filled with ignorant people who do those type of things just for the kicks, or to be annoying or they just don't care. I would be very annoyed if somone just leaned on my doorbell like that and if that happened and I get to the door and confront them, that person will get an earful from me. It's not necessary to abuse the doorbell like that and I would tell the person so.

If its people that know better, I've been known to have a few words with them. Many of them have learned if they stop by often. A few of them have not. There are just a lot of people who really tend to act like the doorbell is some toy that they can really just batter all like that. Its rather annoying, very annoying, extremely annoying to say the very least. It is one of my pet peeves. Thanks for your response. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

I could not agree with you more. It is so aggravating when people use the doorbell unintelligently. Very few things get under my skin, but I can tell you that ringing the doorbell over and over and over again, is truly aggravating!

It is most certainly a huge pet peeve. I'm not sure if some people know how the door bell is working. Or they do it purposely in a way to annoy us into answering the door. I'm guessing its a little bit of both columns. Actually that does tend to make a disturbing amount of success when one really does think about this. Thankfully it seems to only happen once every few weeks but it doesn't make it any less annoying than it does. Maybe people are learning. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

Its not very polite holding the door bell for ages,it really annoys me and i never do this and my job involves me visiting lots of homes i press the door bell once and after a while if there is no answer i will ring again or knock to make sure the reason they hadnt answered was because they hadn't heard the door bell. The only time i hold the doorbell for ages is on my own door to wind my mum up as it really really annoys her but thats for a laugh otherwise i don't as it is rude.

Yeah once or maybe twice. There are going to be times where someone is going to be in the bathroom or in a part of the house that its not going to carry. Or they just are not home. Or they are busy. Some people don't feel like having social hour all of the time to say the very least. So yeah be kind to the doorbell and if the door is meant to be answered, it will be. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.

The doorbell never bothers me. Partly because I can't hear it from where I'm at in the house currently. Also, I have neighbors and friends that just walk in. I don't know what's wrong with people in the south.

Yeah that would be utterly rude to say the very least. Walking into the house is rather worse than doorbell use. My dad has friends like that, drives my mother up a wall to be honest with you. Then again, there are just a lot of people who think that they are entitled to enter wherever they please. That is really a rude nature for many people. Thanks for responding. Its appreciated. Have a nice day.
