I'm browsing on Yahoo! Philippines for information to share to myLotters and I found this article "Pacquiao authors 7 bills despite many absences" of Sun Star. It seems that he took the challenge everybody have been throwing him on the election days. I was one of those people thinking that he wouldn't be able to be an effective as a public servant. Despite of many absences in the congress due to training, TV shows/guestings (local and international), event guestings, etc., he does not forget his duty to our beloved country. I am impressed with his dedication to his work... unlike most of those officials with college degrees from different prestigious colleges and universities. (SHAME ON YOU PIGS!) Well I hope his bills would be approved since it focused on services for the poor.

Most of his bills are concerning the health and safety for the lower and the lower middle class people. I can't give much information since I don't remember that much and I have a bit of a problem with webpage navigation here.

Hello alphenor, I am sorry though, am not impressed. He can be a hero to us with out going through politics, sure i can get used to him being a boxer and a showbiz personality, but politician? . People can make Bills. even the President Noynoy Aquino made 7 Bills, but none of them are still approved till this day. Manny could have been more productive as a Mayor, or Governor since these are executive jobs. I would be impressed if those bills are turned into LAW, but with the kind of Level of influence that he's having in the Congress, that's gonna take a while, it may be left pending too. I would believe him doing real public service if he gives up both boxing and showbiz to focus more on politics.

At least he isn't a pig just consuming his pork barrel, right? I also think that his bills can keep up with the competition, knowing that he was able to firmly stand with his debate against Edcel Lagman and he was able to "silence" the chattering congress when the session was about to start.

Letran, I agree with you on this issue. I believe that Manny can serve in many and different ways without being a politician. I hope that the system still haven't tainted him. God knows we need him to at least feel good about ourselves. Alphenor: I don't think he cares much for pork barrel. I think, if he could, he could fund his projects with his own money if he doesn't want a whit of controversy. Look, I'm not belittling Pacman or his intentions or his skills. God knows we need many of them. However, I think that some of us are afraid that the only man we consider our savior is going to be influenced by the dirtiest power play and venue of manipulation. This is not against Manny the person but against what might happen to him.

Similar to you, I am also amazed by his dedication to work. Have you heard before how Chino Trinidad admired him for being always present in his public service duties even he is already training for his upcoming fight in the boxing ring? I hope, all other public servants do follow this characteristic of our People's Champ. Stop mudslinging and start serving for the public - that's the reason why they are called public servants anyway.

I didn't heard of that. The only significant thing I remembered about Chino Trinidad is his "twitter battle" with Donaire, if I'm not mistaken. Come to think of it, I have given the perfect name (PIGS) for the congresspeople...since most of them got fat after their first term in congress.

Manny Pacquiao is a very intelligent person, and the whole world have seen it by now. He may have humble beginnings and had definitely been deprived of the necessary formal education, but look, he is a absolutely more successful than all the honor graduates... I just pray that he keeps his focus, lots of vultures had preyed on his fame and fortune.

Agree. I wouldn't want to see another celebrity that are using people to become richer.

Good for him! But unlike you, I have always thought he will be a good politician because that guy has and incredible determination! I would even vote him as a senator if he runs.

Well I was doubtful of him since there are famous people who became politicians with poor performance as a public servant. Here's the link anyway; with all the criticisms and praise of Yahoo! users: http://ph.news.yahoo.com/pacquiao-authors-7-bills-despite-many-absences-010044989.html

I think he paid the best staff to prepare those bills for him. Admit it he is no college graduate. He can't prepare the bill all by himself. But I need to give credit for him for his intention to help his countrymen and I learned he attended a crash course at UP together with his staff about public administration. http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/nation/07/11/10/ncpag-offers-course-new-legislators

He should have pursue executive position like being a governor and mayor. his ordinances would have worked perfectly. unfortunately, even people in the legislation are also doing executive or municipality work. . But still you gotta admire his dedication at least.

@sweet_pea: thanks for the additional information :) Yes he's no college graduate yet his English is getting better as time goes on. I saw him at the current NCAA season's opening ceremonies talking in english and it seems that he isn't reading any prepared speech. @LetranKnight: I am obliged to agree with you since what you've said is just right. His dedication separates him from the rest of the legislator's that are doing executive/municipal work. Most of the congressmen are pure fancy dress and talk.
