Oh, Please. Just Suck It Up And Leave

Yesterday, I was going to buy some sugar. I was smoking on my way to the store when this dude came up to me, got in my way and said something like "Hey, you're not allowed to smoke here!" I took a quick look, there wasn't any roof above my head, I was walking on a sidewalk, clearly, I'm outside in the public. We're not allowed to smoke in public, actually, but only the enforcers are allowed to cease us. I looked back at him and said "Are you an MMDA rep or something?" He said "no", unsurprisingly. I told him "Step out of the way, then." (along with some words I can't really say in english). For a moment, he stood there staring at me, then stepped aside. Bullies can be so irritating at times, especially when it's being done in public. After I got the sugar, I turned around and he's still there. I told him "If I ever see you here again, I'll break your neck, do you understand?" The store clerk was laughing. She knew I was just kidding but the guy took it seriously and nodded, and then walked away.

Hello there. You post an interesting topic here.. By the way, I'm from Malaysia.. just want to share with you.. have you been to Singapore? It's south of Malaysia. In Singapore you can't smoke anywhere you like even in public.. the authority will certainly get you.. but there are places where you can still enjoy smoking in Singapore.. usually marked on the sidewalk or pavement.. You can't even smoke in your hotel rooms in some hotel in Singapore and in public places too.. it's insane rite? but anyway that is probably how they keep their city clean and their people more healthy.. if you can't stop them you just have to "quarantine" them.. lol :)

That is one brutal law they've implemented there. I don't think I'd ever wanna visit Singapore while I'm still hooked up on smoking.

That may sound like good news but not to me. I smoke whenever I want to and I might forget that they're tight there and get myself fined or something.

I do not know what is the law in your city. Even if law is not there, I suggest you need not have bullied that boy. he is right in advising u not to smoke in public. (outside-- u smoke in ur house_)

He could have said it nicely instead of shouting at me like it was his territory so he was still wrong.

But maybe he has a point there. However, he should have told you in a more nice manner, where you will not be offended. Don't you think so?

I'm not really sure if he was referring to the newly implemented no-smoking law because he said it like I was on his property, or something. It was kinda vague because I was also thinking about the law.

That is ridiculous! I can't believe that someone would have the nerve to do that to you! I would have been furious, and probably knocked his face in. In my opinion you acted completely appropriately.

I do think that I acted just right. A little crazy, but still right. I just think that I'm not gonna be pushed around anywhere. Plus I don't like the idea that people are withholding the law when they really don't have the right to, that's power-tripping.
