If you, as I am, are alarmed at how much censorship is going on, then this will make your blood boil. If not, pardon me. Please go back to sleep. Here is a woman at the public podium being arrested because a councilperson didn't like what the citizen's viewpoint was, apparently. The mayor tried to prevent it, but the cops still hauled her off. http://webferret.search.com/click?wf6,Nazi%92+AND+police+AND+%91kidnap%92+AND+woman+AND+at+AND+town+AND+hall,,www.wnd.com%2F%3FpageId%3D319501,,msn,1 I'm not even sure what the topic was, but I'm outraged that no-one was allowed to hear it because of an unamerican, tinpot little dictator! I hope the arrested lady sues city hall! Maggiepie "Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever." ~ Thomas Jefferson

Hi Auntie! I wonder why the links failed to open for you, yet not for others...perhaps you just need to try again? They might have been down or something. I'll never understand computers! In any case, try just doing a web search under various appropriate words. You should stumble across some reference! You're correct: "They ain't!" Well said! And I am having a great weekend--my priest came to visit, since I'm unable to attend Church! Here's hoping you had a great time, too! Censorship is nothing new in my country. Our so called democratic elected government has been and is popular in abusing the power vested on them to censor any kind of tv programs that they feel have western influences. This is a weird country where movies aired on tv have to go through the censorship board ensuring that parts containing kissing and hugging are removed. The government think that western produced films are tainted with immoral activities which bring bad influences to the Asian culture. Unfortunately they did not realized that people have other alternatives through the net where no governments, neither the west nor the east could control what is being screened online. Censoring should be dismissed as it is not only undermining human intelligence but our rights as citizens of this world are unlawfully curbed.

ZANDI: What is your country, if I may be so nosy? I agree with all you wrote! Censorship is almost always about fear. But they who have courage are never afraid of words! I liked them, too. And yours was my first thought when I saw the video--I'd sue their pants off! I'm not normally a litigious sort! But this was just so outrageous! Censorship has its place...keeping language and behavior civilized...but when people's thoughts and opinions, even civilly expressed, are censored, that becomes oppression, not censorship. This video was amazing to me as I didn't hear her utter one word that was deserving of censorship. She expressed herself calmly and respectfully. Why the councilman wanted her shut up is beyond me.

I understand your point about decorum, but this case didn't apply--at least, not until the actions of that one councilperson & the cops created a lack of decorum! Actually, I couldn't make out what the woman was saying for all the hollering that was going on, but whatever her words, she had the right to be heard! I can only suppose that the councilperson was on the opposite side. I would have appreciated being able to hear, so that I could have made up my mind as to whether I agreed with her. I really do hope she sues! Maggiepie "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." ~ Aristotle, philosopher 384-322 BC

Well, she was basically instructing the audience about the rules of forum and the councilperson didn't want her informing them of their right to be heard. At least, that was what I gathered from what I heard on the video. She was far from out of line and I didn't understand what the councilperson was objecting to at all. I am flabbergasted that the mayor was so ignored by both the councilperson and the cops!!!!

I love how outraged you are at her being dragged off the podium when we are always censored.

WOW! This is an outrage! The mayor is definitely trying to protect the ladies 1st amendment rights. This seems to be an arguement between 2 members of the board: The mayor and one other board member. YEAH for the mayor but I am ashamed to see that noone in the audience really took a stand for this lady and her/our American rights. This goes to show how much we are censored even on a small town basis! Disgusting!

Well, I noticed most of the audience was retirees...little blue-haired frail old ladies and men...I would not expect them to stand up against the young, healthy and powerful police.

i hate that due to the fact that that i feel the same way too sometimes, your own thoughts and actions are persued and destroyed. It doesn't matter whether one disagrees or agrees, freedom of expression is in the ammendments.
