Hello Lotters, Meh, I am curious indeed. some have mentioned that they learned it from a program that helps them type with out using the computer key board. In the key board, I've always known the Letter F and J only that has Lines under it. My eldest brother mentioned to me that this is guide for people who type it "with out" looking at the keyboard. Well, this is just another pay less benefit that I've got from Mylot. That is learning how to type discussions, comments and responses with out looking at the key board. hard to imagine that i can achieved this, brings back memories though. maybe if i haven't met mylot then i would have never type like this. Maybe It ain't bad looking at the key board. to have a rest eyes Have a nice day

Hi LK! When I was in grade school, my auntie always sees to it that I have a worthwhile summer vacation. With that, she would always enroll me to learning schools. One of which is typing lessons. Because of my training, even at a young age, I can type and now encode even without seeing the keyboard. That is also the reason why I can type with the proper finger on every character. I use the little finger to my thumb when typing. Although, with the keyboard, it is not similar to the typewriter that has its level. With the keyboard, the level is the same and flat. With my proficiency in typing, I sometimes close my eyes and rest while I continue to type or watching TV.

Good for me and I don't regret that. It was truly an advantage and beneficial on my part. Funny thing was that I can recall the typewriter I have been using in the typing class. Old typewriters is what we use then. When you started this discussion, I remember my late grandfather. He is the only person who has that in their household then. None of his children used his typewriters not until I was born and learned it. It is very memorable that I have seen the evolution of typewriter, then it becomes electric and came the PC. A great memory indeed.

Hello mean, I guess you're one of those people who had been trained to type since the typewritter days. you know how I wish i learned to type at my young age but it's my dad who use the type writter and not me. as for proficiency it took only months. but good for you.learning this before and long time

Hi LetranKnight! I'm on the category where I learned to type without looking at the keyboard by using a software program called Typing Pal. Also, I practiced my typing skills when I need to get used in typing my papers during my college years. Another factor would be the Typing Maniac game in Facebook. So how many words per minute now that you can muster? Yes, posting here on myLot can really sharpen your typing skills. You never fail to see the great benefits myLot gives to us eh!

Hello Gulaman, I never got into those programs nor the game that you mentioned earlier in facebook. there's no way that i could have considered having those as my learning experience. though, i wondered if there is a program that could help me type faster i never got the chance to research and download it. have a niceday

Yeah I do, even though I was taught the old fashion way, with keys that were blackened and I had to memorize where each key is, I still look out of habit. This is probably due to many years without typing until I got a computer, so I am out of practice where typing without looking is concerned..

Yep, that is how I learned to type, every key was black and we typed on manual typewriters..(Yes, this clues you in on my age..) But obviously typing is not like riding a bike, because I still look down...

The only way to learn, right sooner??? Except one has to keep it up, or loss their ability to type without looking at the keyboard..

Hello carmel, You know that reminds of that last keyboard i had for three straight years. not only there was something wrong with the keyboards but for years of typing I've seen it's letters fade and turn it some how into a complete black. i have put some improvised letters but i guess it's not enough.

Hi Letran, Be it electronic or other devises, I never went to any center to learn the basics. Before I got my pc I did not know anything as to how things are done there. And slowly I picked up the basics all by myself and same is the story with my car and bike. When I got my own car I asked one guy to show me the basic thing. He took me to a field and after teaching me how to use the first and second gear he stopped and from the field to my house I drove myself and it boosted my moral a lot. Thereafter all the gears and controlling I learnt myself. Now so to say I can type quite fast but I have to look into the key board. What I felt is that the more I write the speedier I will be and soon I will be able to type without looking at the key board.

This is a great experience to be able to type without looking into the key board. One of my nephew also does this feat. He types so fast that I could not believe. He gave me a soft wear called 'write speedily'. I had practiced it for sometime but when I had to get my C drive formatted it went into the air.

Hello Kraibg, I have learned how to use the computer when I was in grade give in my elementary days, but typing with the keyboard with not looking at it has been a bit of the problem. another problem is that i can't afford to stay away from the monitor or the keyboard that also leaves me distracting. i don't know about cars, i don't think i can do it there.

Hello Tiger-Aunt, Same here but to be honest i don't know what my speed is. I use to have this kind of problem. Being hurry isn't always going to accurate in typing. typo error is just normal thing, but you can correct you're words.

Even before myLot, I have already got accustomed in typing without looking at the keyboard too often. I was an active participants in forums before, a local gaming magazine that I don't know if it is still publishing up to now. They have that site that I got interested in joining and from there, I got to practice my typing skills.

Well good for you. At least myLot gave you touch-typing skill without any cost. Well in my case, I studied dyna-typing so even when the computer has not been invented I already know how to type without looking at the keyboard. It is so slow and a big disadvantage if we still look at the keyboard, is it not? So be happy indeed because you learned it here.

I do the complete reverse..I look at the keyboard and I am able to type correctly without looking at the monitor.I actually did it when typing this very comment. I don't usually use guides for these kind of things as in the end, it still depends upon the person how will he/she do it.

:D lol your comment is quite unique :D as for me, i used to practice typing since i was in grade school, using a typewriter though. and until now, i'm not that good typist, coz i still don't type numbers correctly without looking at it first. so when it comes to numbers and other symbols, i still prefer to look at the keyboard to make sure that what i'm typing is correct.

letran a few years back there was a touch typ ing class on the net or on windows that gave you different lessons to type and I found I had moved from 20 with errors to 57 with no errors but I did not keep it up bu t I am sure there are sites with these lessons where you learn the correct finger positions then go from there without looking at the keyboard at all. the key finger positions are crucial as you will make awful errors if you move your hands just one letter over. they are fun to do too.Thought you might be interested. never looked at the k keyboard once. I am slower than I used to be but still pretty speedy.

Hello Cher913, Wowthat's a good thing to, being a typist gives a huge advantage as a lotter or a blogger for that matter. that's true by not looking at the keys you're progress of typing a post is a lot faster than looking at it. but with regards to that you gotta avoid looking too much or too close to the monitor. have a nice day.

I don't look at the keyboard when typing. I've had to type so much from the start of using computers for projects/reports and such that I've just picked up on typing fast and not looking at the keyboard, because it does save time. My friend once saw me type and said I should be a secretary or something because I'm so fast with typing up things

Hello belone, Yeah, i have experience doing projects, reports and not to mention thesis and feasibility studies but you know it's only mylot where i have become better for myself. I don't want to be a secretary because i have no clue as to how many i should type and then not to mention the errors that I would be making. have a nice day.

At approximately 80 words per minute, I consider myself to be a fairly accurate and well-placed typist. I can survive without looking at the keys, but generally numbers give me some issue. Once you get practice with proper typing in, it surely gets easier as you go.

I can't lie, I still look at the keyboard when I type. I can type relatively fast however, like 75 words per minute. If I know what I want to say, however, I don't have to look at the keys when I am typing. I remember taking computer classes in high school, and I would always get into trouble for looking at the keys as I typed, but I was always the fastest typer in the class, so what did I care.

Hello danknapp21, Don't worry there's nothing wrong with typing while looking at the keyboard, I happen to be like the almost my whole life before i got to meet mylot. there's nothing to be ashamed of. there are some keys that are easily recognized, i learned this when there are words that are easily patterned in my brain through my keyboard. have a nice day.
