I think that the media does play on our emotions whenever they publish big news hence the fact that if there is an upsetting picture they will usually show it for shock value and to get to our feelings. It is what sells I suppose because a lot of us have to look; as much as we don’t want to because we know it will upset us we still have to take a peek and feel terrible.

On television in my home country the top stories in the news are told in very fine detail. They show detailed pictures and these can be upsetting especially when people are injured. The more minor stories get less coverage. The news is long to watch and seems to go on and on. I think watching the whole news through can be a depressing experience finding out such awful things have happened. Sometimes I see a news heading and then I go forwards to find out about it. It might be a shocking event like flooding in Australia or an earthquake in Asia. I hated the news of the 9/11 but I did watch some programs about it. I did this to remember the people lost in the twin tower event. The news in Finland when I lived there aged 18 for several months was always happy and not all that eventful. These days the news in my home country and in some other places in the world can be emotional.

Yes. I have followed some of the news stories and cases here lately and it really bothers me sometimes how these people can do what they do. Some of them get away with their crimes committed and that is what bothers me the most.
