With the advent of technology. People do not have to use their brains that must.
Common sense is about to go extinct.

Its not true. Everybody will have common sense but only some knows how to use and where to use.
Your question is quite complicated actually. If I ask why everybody is not good in the world? We cannot give straight answer such type of questions right..Because everybody will think the work what they did is good from their point of view..and that might be bad in our point of view...isn't it?
Take a rowdy having 4 persons along with him and whenever he done any theft or anything they too will help and support him. Now can you say he is bad in his supporters point of view...?NO.definitely no..because he share the money or anything what he stole. And from their point of view he is good....but we know staling or theft is not good again....
If i keep on saying this will not stop..!
Very good topic you have started and I am impressed..!

Hello!
Oh yes, you're right. In fact, it's not common at all. As a quote I read says:
"Common sense is an uncommon degree, is what the world calls wisdom"
See, it's wisdom. And wisdom is better than knowledge. Not a lot of people has a lot of knowledge, how much more wisdom (common sense)?

It is common sense that is needed to get out of any difficult situation but when there is any pressure or the stress in our mind common sense gets out of it.
It happens to people and that is why it is said that common sense is not so common.

Common sense is a thinking which is achieve by living and sharing life with many people.. what they do what you do.. all is clearly visible to every one and make a judjement by your common sense which is not get by chance...
SO some people have not proper common sense while they have common sense..

We say common sense is the best thing to get out of trouble in some case, but sometimes things dont work the way as it is because of stress hindrance our brain confuses things with uncommon things for those who keep piling all the things in their brain without thinking of what is necessary and what is not, always be calm even in worst situation, pumping our adrenaline without even thinking properly can end up in a mess.

I have a very book smart friend. He is working on his phD in something I cannot pronounce. Yet, he really does not have the common sense, the sense to keep yourself alive, of a two year old. He was holding a lit flare. The kind that drops molten hot stuff on to the ground, over a big bag of fire works. Not the little stuff...Mortars which would have hurt alot of people if they had gone off where they were at. That was just not something he thought about. His mind was on I need to see in this bag and it is dark out, hey this thing is giving off a lot of light, i will use that.

It seems to me, people don't know what they really want from the rest of humanity.
In one breath they call for everyone to use their common sense and make good decisions, while seconds later someone is giving a speech about standing on your own and being a rebel. "Being unique" or "your own person" means not automatically bowing to what everyone else is doing and I think that is great advice. Unfortunately that path can lead away from "common sense". Common sense would be that which the majority sees as right, instead of being something endowed upon us by birth, and as such is it is begging to be broken by the rebels.
Some people will argue that common sense is deeper and more logical than majority rule or elitist dominion, but that is a smoke screen. We can say it is common sense that you don't give dynamite to babies and feel good that is deeply ingrained in truism. But it is also common sense that if you fail at something over and over again, you are best to give up, but where would our culture be if we all listened to that one.
We should be more cautious when listening to over-simplifed "truisms" like "common sense".
