This is the topic of my bible study today or my days devotion. It really touched my heart. It tells us to encourage someone today. Because someone you know maybe discouraged and feel buried under the weight of grief because of some broken dream or relationship.
It goes on to say that some of us may have been in such seasons, the awareness of what another is feeling is all too familiar. And that is the reason that we-as believers should be so given to doing what we can to bring a boost to a hurting person's life. Hurting hurts. And Helping helps.
It says be discerning of what others are feeling. You may see an opportunity to love, encourage, help and point a person to the perfect One who can lift them from the pit of despair just as Jesus promised long ago and just as He has done for you before.
Then it gives me this scripture Matthew 11: 28-30.."Come to Me all you who are weary and burden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light"
Have you taken time to encourage, love or listen to someone's elses burdens lately?

Yeah sometimes when I'm at the gym there is this old man that will come up and chat. This time he came up and was telling me about his son that recently went and moved away to another country. He was telling me how he was so upset that his son is moving on and that he is not able to see him. I told him not to worry and that I'm sure he will visit him.

I agree with you whispersl68. It is very important for us to let others who are alone know that we are there for them. I live alone and it really means a lot to me when someone just call to see how I am doing or tell me that I am on their mind. Every time I say my prayers I thank God for those that thought of me or had me on their mind for that day.

I've got to tell you, that is one of my favorite scriptures!! It has helped me in a HUGE way during one of the hardest times of my life! It was late 1999 when my grandmother was dying. I did all I could to help my mom and aunt take care of her even though it was so hard to see her in that condition. My grandmother had this picture of Jesus with his arms outstretched and that scripture was written at the bottom. It was sitting on my mother's microwave in which I'd stop and look at it and pray for His guidance and courage to carry on and of course, He saw me through. The picture was really tattered and showing it's age however, I've been looking for a newer copy of it but can't find it anywhere. It's helped me SO much that I want a nicer copy of it oppose to the tattered one but I'll keep the copy of the tattered one till I find a new one. Do you know where I could find one?

Hi CatsandDogs, I am happy that this post bought some peace and comfort to you or just a reminder of your favorite scripture. No I don't have a copy of that picture you are speaking of but if I do come across one I will keep you in mind. Continue to let God guide you and give you courage. Be blessed.

Where I live, there are countless souls who walk the streets hungry and lost. It is always good to carry a pack of cookies or wafers, so that when these deprived children come and ask for alms, we could give them food instead. At least they will be a little less hungry.
You are correct, most people live everyday for themselves, how they would earn more and make their dreams come true. But there are more helpless and unhappy souls who need our nudge so they can live their lives. That person could be your maid or your driver or your nanny, or your friend who lost a job, a home, or a loved one, or a teacher who is burdened by her school load, or a student who failed an exam, or a special child who needs a real tight hug.
Our lives are meant to be lived in service for another, That is the second commandment, love your neighbors as thy self.

I have always been encouraging some friends of mine with regards to their married life and even to the works at the office.
It feels good, that they do appreciate me for doing that. Besides, they like following my advises and emerge triumphant doing them.
