About 2 Years ago, In a bind ( At The Time I needed a computer fast for work ) I went to Walmart and ended up buying a computer from there I believe it was a few hundred dollars. Anyways it got the job done, With the occasional problems but I figured when your buying your PC from Walmart your just bound to have problems eventually. Now I feel its about time to get a new computer and before I start researching I REALLY want to get you guys and gals opinions because they really matter to me. What do you recommend a PC or MAC? I have never owned a Mac before are they pretty user friendly. I do not need something crazy, I am in the process of creating a blog so the computer will need to run up to date applications and every once in awhile I really enjoy playing online games with my friends, Mostly Shooters like the Halo Series... Basically any First Person Shooter type of game so the computer will need to be able to run the new games coming out. I am not sure how much something like this will run me money wise, But I use the computer for work so honestly its an investment. Any Help Would Be GREATLY APPRECIATED, Thank You to Everyone who took the time to read my thread and especially the ones who responded I just wanted to THANK YOU IN ADVANCE IT MEANS A LOT! THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN YOUR FRIEND, Lawrence

Well buying a pc depends on what you fix your budget.Work pc will come cheap and you can buy MAC with no problem. But if you want to play games then i recommend you to buy a pc.Gaming system comes at a cost. They are expensive.A good graphics card for high end gaming will cost over 350 dollars. At present time it is best to buy a Nvidia graphics which is over 500 dollars. But the problem is it consumes more power and produces more heat and you will require a high quality coolant. So it is better to buy ATI radeon hd graphics card.It is less costly and consumes less power compared to nvidia. Also its lower ends are better than NVIDia in performance. I recommended you to buy all parts separately and get them assembled from some one. This will also reduce the cost of pc.Many gamers do this way.AS far as i know asus motherboards rule the market.Choose Intel i5 or i7 as a processor. If you want cheap and less power consumption go for AMD.

Personally, for the last 10 years the only thing that I have purchased are Dell computers. In the past I had HP's and Compaq, for me those computers were worthless, I can't say that they are the same way now a days, since I have no experience with them. But based on my previous experience with them, I rather stick to Dell. They are extremely reliable, durable and last a long time. I have had a great experience. My brother has an Mac and he loves his Mac, he says it's better than a PC, a few of my friends have also said the same thing. They are a bit of money, but I am hoping that by the end of this year for Christmas I'll get mine. So based on that I would highly recommend either a Dell or a Mac. Good Luck, I know computer shopping isn't that easy speaking from experience...

Hmm. From what you said scrap the MAC.Get a PC. A gaming box with at least i5 to i7. If your not into Intel, go for AMD Phenom 6. Next would be your video card. Get one of those 1 Gig up. Your RAM must at least be 4 gigs - I recommend 8 gigs. As for your LCD, I would suggest getting one of those shiny Samsung or LG LED screens. Don't be fooled by 3D, it will never last. If you have one of those you should be fine.

Based on the tasks you mentioned, I see that an entry to mid level PC should be good enough for you. You can get a PC with Inter Core i3, 320 HDD, 2GB DDR, an onboard video card. As for the brand, my personal favorite is ASUS. I have an ASUS laptop that I bought almost two years ago. I use it for work and school and it is open for an average of 16 hours a day. I haven't had any problems with it. I also use it for gaming and photo and video editing.

Get someone you know to build you a PC. Tell them what it's gonna be used for and if they're not being a d****e, they'll get you the best parts at the price range and you'll get a decent PC (OEM solutions are mostly overpriced, so building your own PC is cheaper, sometimes dramatically)

My friend who understand computer ones told me that if i want to buy a computer pick a motherboard that use a high-endurance capacitor because usually when there was a problem with a computer hardware mainly because the capacitor leaking... several Mac that i've seen are all using high-endurance capacitor, while on PC if the motherboard is a bit expensive they usually use a high-endurance capacitor... because now Mac is using Intel processor, you can install windows on mac too... so if i were you i'll go for mac... or if you still want pc, pick the one that using a high-endurance capacitor...

My friend Spike has mentioned all the real deal that you need to look out for. I would like to add just one more point to this discussion that before you set out to buy that new pc or mac or whateva; first just try once to find out if the current one can be upgraded in the required level. This can save you a few bucks and serve you the purpose as you'll have to pay for the needed parts only and you retain parts which don't affect performance so you don't have to pay for those. That's what I did with my PC a few months back. So think it out.
