Friends, if we simply eat, sleep, mate, and defend, we are on the animal platform. Human life begins when we inquire about the nature of the Absolute Truth. A human being is meant for higher consciousness. Therefore he can never be happy as long as he remains on the animal platform.
We must do good to others, help others, pray god for achieving the much desired peace, happiness, love, and success.

Do you help the needy, how?
Are we not different from animals?
Thanks in advance.[/b]

Good evening Sir, I think u have changed ur photo(avatar) good. this is also nice.
We should help each other to an extent possible. I will say that we should help our relatives understanding their need not with a view to ourselves being benefitted but to help them come out of crisis.
In the present day context if one takes care of himself and his family that itself is fine and allowing his family to depend on others.
Education helps people reform themselves to a large extent. education alone will not do it also depends on the way one has been brought up.
I try to help my students with whatever information I have and that will be useful for them. In my experience out of 100 two make use of it fully and others just try and stop after running a few yards.

Yes you are right Professorji. Everyone should help others in their possible way. That is the bank balance that we carry with us, when we go up. I always try to help others by way of money, or other help. I try to help even animals in my own way.

We've got a saying about that...."A dogs life". On the one hand you could be jealous of your dogs life as they lay sprawled out on your bed as you have to go out into the weather to earn a living at a job you can't stand, etc. Their food and water are provided and are loved by their master. On the other hand it could seem boring hanging around the house all the time. But in the end they will never experience the joy of falling in love,or helping others rise above what they are. At least that we know of. Whether we achieve peace or not is only in the eye of the beholder.

Very true! This are the very concepts that the philosophers of old times think. Humans were given the mind to think using it. That's the big difference that we have compared to animals. They say that part of emotions are caused by our animal instincts and reason and logic are part of the human instincts. We need to control our animal instinct, our emotions at this matter, using our mind. That what makes us human.

hi professor oh yes I do agree we are more than just animals. we learn to are here to help others and do good to others and practice what God has taught us every day . As long as we live for others and not for just
ourselves we are on a higher plane. I have hardly anything left after my room and board are paid for out of my Social Security check and SSI
check but I do donate a little to the Veterans of foreign wars as
these are men and women who volunteered their safety for us .they are
the older Americans who now some of them can barely make ends meet. My
little they tell me is much appreciated.

hi professor,
many animals do care about beauty, and take great care to look good. also they are socially inclined and loves to be with their kind. how they judge? they fight for their place, defend their territory or get killed or driven out of the (animal) society. like people, animals can be loyal. we have all seen a dogs loyalty at a graveside, or its attempt to console a broken heart. other animals have those traits too, only we need to
We have our big brains that have invented concepts like execution or prison, but basically it's the same thing. we do not differ much from them. although no human being will be happy if you call them animal. it would be degrading.
people always strive hard not to stay in their level like they want more and more.. never satisfied.

dear dada,
That's the common notion of most people.
Eat,work, care, think about future and earn/save money for their kids and next generation.
We should/must know the real purpose of our existence.
We live for the other people to live also.
Yes,we must learn and give time to share in in every manner that we could.
Even in the simplest form...as long as we always extend a helping hand and never turn our back to those who asks and need help.
have a great weekend dear and hugs to you,maa and shubee

You know what is good, what is bad in the society.
You came across many experiences. You know what a human being have to do, to get happiness and self satisfaction. And yes, helping nature is so good thing. But first we have to get a good position in the society(for youngsters), then we can do our level best.

Hello Papa,
Though eat, sleep, mate and defend are some factors in life we must also extend and broaden our minds. The only way to do this is by interacting with others. We do not live in caves therefore, interacting and mingling with the world is inevitable. Why not be caring and helpful as life itself is quite short.
I refuse to live with regrets in life and instead relish beautiful memories. The only way one can do this is by accepting our mistakes and utilize them to perfect and or live better. Peace is certainly something I strive for on a daily basis, but I would not be able to achieve it if I do not learn to let go and let live. Therefore, I agree that helping others is certainly a way to help ourselves. Living with recalls of our bad ways leads to anger, and continued bad ways.
I do pray daily and it always includes, to grant me the patience it will take to get through the next day. lol.. simply because I am not perfect and though I am good to others there are many not so good to me. But then I get through the next day and very thankful that I had not done anything outside of what is expected of me towards others.

I agree with you that we need to do some of the things you said. However I have to object your thesis that we have to leave the ''animal platform'' to reach higher consciousness. On the contrary, some animals have a higher consciousness than ourselves and hence we can learn from them. As far as I remember there are some indian tribes in America which have realized that as well as they had a very close connection to nature in the past. Some of our fellows don't even have the consciousness of a bacteria nowadays. There are steps in between. For the human being it is almost impossible to achieve full comprehension of nature and the universe even though many think we can reach it through science. Science is only half the truth and you don't necessarily need it to get into that other realm you are probably thinking of :-)

Hai Professor, yes... basically every human being has the animal side. I agree with you, if the animal side is more prominent in ourselves, then we will never happiness in our life, there is only hollow.
We are in the east (I am from Indonesia), have many ways to put more pressure on the animal side in ourself. But, in the west we know that rationality becomes the main tool to suppres the animal side in guman being. But, in my opinion, to rely solely in rationality without conscience, that our human side are still very fragile.
What do you think, whether the method of rationality or eastern mystycism is more powerful and capable to pressing to our animal side in human beings?

Yep! Thanks.
Naturally are all spirit with a body of an animal, and not just a body with spirit. We should have all be spiritually consciously aware of that.

That's definitely right. If we treat ourselves as animals, the part of us that makes us humans will never develop itself since it won't be used. We should act like humans instead of animals because, after all, we are really humans.

Hi Prof!
I think this will be the most intellectual discussion of the day for me
Of course, a human being has higher level of understanding, we have intellect and we have emotions, too. We can feel sentiments, sadness of our fellow humans. What makes us more human is that, we show concern to someone in need, we have commitments and we have wisdom to impart knowledge.
I don't wanna be grandstanding here to enumerate about what I have done to my fellow countrymen. But you can understand perfectly when I say I was volunteering in a hospital for 9 months without compensation. I worked, I helped patients without nothing in return. I was happy after all, and for me it was an achievement for myself.
