Anyone have their gallbladder removed?

I am having these pains in my right side up under my rib cage. I have them after I eat the worst. I have researched and researched until my eyes could pop and I think that the best scenario is that my gallbladder is having issues. Anyone have any thoughts on this subject? Have you had issues with this and if so what were your symptoms? Did you have surgery?

I myself still have my gallbladder. You do need to get it checked. Pains in the side and up your rib cage can be caused by other things as well. I had a large tumor removed from my pancreas. They found it because I kept complaining of pain in my side and ribcage. Gallstones can make you very ill. They made my husband clutch his side and fall over in pain. His gallbladder was removed and he had twenty stones in it. He now has no other problems except after gallbladder removal you do have to watch how much fat you eat. If he eats too much fat, he gets diarrhea because the gallbladder is a place to store fats.

That tricky to do because so many related symptoms will lead to exerting anxiety over something one perhaps would not have. I have not had any gall bladder issues yet in life therefore, I can't say certain symptoms would be related. The best course of action is to write down the current symptoms you have and convey them to a physician upon examination. I went online and saw an article about certain symptoms and to be honest, I have lot of the symptoms they list but do not believe that would be my issue. Take a look here and see if it is similar to what you are experiencing and do be sure to call your doctor and schedule an appointment to be sure: (This is not a referral link) http://www.gallbladderattack.com/gallbladdersymptoms.shtml

hi hardworker I had mine taken out when I was sixty band aid surgery where a tiny camera is inserted in your tummy and the surgeon takes out the miserable gall bladder and puts in three aitches, and its covered with a big band-aid.You stay overnight are discharged next morning, not hardly any pain and I could go back to work in a week, a week as I had to lift heavy books. my symptoms were a horrible grinding pain on my right side up under the rib cage after eating and it does not go away until you get the darned thing out. the surgery was a real breeze, little discomfort and quick healing too. I was glad to get rid of that pain thats for sure.

I had mine taken out when I was 18. I had had a few symptoms, but attributed them to other things. looking back, when i had the surgery, we could pinpoint only 3 other episodes. Each time was after eating a heavily greasy meal. The one that put me in the hospital and then into surgery, started like a muscle pull and progressively got more painful. the pain seemed to radiate from just right of my sternum. i did have surgery and it wasn't that bad. it was four incisions (they use only 3 now from what I understand) I had surgery on Friday afternoon, because it was so late, I spent the night and was released Saturday. Sunday I went to graduation rehearsal for our graduation on Tuesday. I was still sore and not allowed to drive because of painkillers, but made it through. The ceremony itself, i almost walked out of because my painkillers wore off and i was sitting in a really uncomfortable chair.

I haven't but my daughter did. She started out by having the pain and then it got to were if she would eat certain foods she would vomit. There were several times I had to take her to the emergency room. She had surgery. It is a simple surgery. They just make two little incisions. My dad also had to have his taken out because he was having so much pain and could not hardly eat. I would definitely go to the doctor. I can be life threatening if you do not have it taken care of. Have a Blessed Day
