Is the lead of 143 enough to win? Will rain permit India to win this test?

Rain is playing its game on this test match also. any way India is allout, and now have a lead of 143. can India achieve an innings victory with this? If India needs to bat the second innings, I feels that this match will also be a draw, simply because Rain will not permit India to win the match.

Definately not. Its a very marginal lead and if India have to win they will have to bowl out the Westindies quickly without conseeding too many runs. The wicket has stayed good and the only obstucle that will prevent India from a win will be the rain. It frustrated India in the second test where they almost sensed victory and if they do not get enough time on day five they will surely not feel any good. India should have batted well to get a little better lead but only managed 143 runs. Now with some good bowling they will have to restrict the host to a small total and see that they are not chasing a big target for victory. We will have to wait and see what will be the outcome of the match as only two results seem possible either an Indian victory or a draw..

ya the WI in second innings has shown some good resistance and are now in a good platform. so still the match is unpredictable. surely we can hope that India will not lose as India have a strong batting line up. The only two possibilities is draw or India win, that too if Rain permits.

Well the match certainly is not unpredictable. It will either be an Indian victory or a draw. India will have to bowl the host out really quickly and then if the target is on the high side they will have to score quickly of they want to push for a win. On the other hand they also have to option to go in for a draw as they are already 1-0 up and only need a draw to win the series. The Westindies did show some good batting display on day four and hung in there despite being under a lot of pressure to perform or else face the consequences of a 2-0 defeat at home. Day five will be very exciting and lets wait and see what will happen..

I think it is very much possible for India to win this match. In the last match, India had around 70 odd overs to bowl the Windies out. Out of that too some overs got washed off and still they managed to take 7 wickets. Now India has almost two full days to bowl them out and chase whatever they set. I would think Indians are the favorite. Also before lunch itself they have picked 2 Windies wickets to leave them at 26/2. So I think we can win this one and win the series 2-0. Cheers! Ram

now its one more day and India need to pick m4 more wickets and bat well to win the match. but I still think that India can win the match, but only if rain permits. Rain is a major issue in WI.

Finally there is fightback from the Windies. Shiv Chanderpaul and Kirk Edwards scored centuries. India still need two wickets after lunch to start the chase of the given target. Now suddenly all three results look a possibility. Though still India are the favorites to win the match. Cheers! Ram

The only way that India can achieve victory in this test match is by winning with an innings to spare. If they have to bat again, chances are that they may not win due to the rain factor. But I feel that WI cannot hit 143 runs now. It seems impossible for them. If rain does not washout play, India is most likely to win with an innings to spare.

but now WI has crossed the 143 mark and India need to score more and bat well in the second innings after picking 4 more wickets. so its hard task, that too rain very much on the cards. so probably this match will also end up in a draw.

the lead of 143 runs is a good leads. The opposite side cannot reach to that score. But i dont say that this will be a single innings victory because its just a 143 run lead. But still India will definitely win this match.

Now WI lost 2 wickets and india have enough overs to win the match.. while raining is a factor , we cant forecast for that.. hope india deals for all wickets cheaply and make required run before the match last bowl throw.

from now, India will be chasing something around 100+ or a draw. will Rain stay away in the last day of match, Can India seal the series with 2-0 margin, thats still a question.
