cacti have always been sustainable and stay beautiful all of the time. They bloom at certain times too like christmas cacti or thanksgiving cacti

In schools from the fourth standard onwards children are asked to grow some plants and bring them to school so that they can get grade ,these are project works.
Once i had seen that my relatives kids were busy with such things. They were asked to grow carrot ,onion, corriandor etc.,
Onion grow fast ,others take a little time.Any ways all the plants as they reach the school and were seen by the teacher and graded, when they return they will die as they will not be takn care of watering .

Are you talking about using like bowls and such to create the garden? If so, then there are a number of small plants that would look lovely. If you are looking at just a normal plant that is beautiful and green, one that grows well. The Pathos is a good plant for this, the root system doesn't need to be a deep one and the plant can be kept small.
There are also several herbs that would work great if she is choosing to show the students how to grow a special indoor garden that can help promote foods in their homes. Basil, mint, oregano, lemon balm... and many others.
Good Luck!
