I'm looking for a certain type of poem and coming up short

I want to try to find a longish poem that basically says that bad things need to happen in order for us to grow as human beings. Maybe something about how we tend to bury our feelings, and in order for the burden of having to think and remember these bad things, things need to come out and be said, even if it's not what we want to hear. If you can help me, please do! Thanks!
