A Pain In the Neck

I have a pain in the neck literally. I had been getting migraines for a while. Now, my neck has gone into spasms and I am having trouble turning my head from side to side. The emergency room doctor put me on flexeril for it and tylenol with codeine. The ear, nose and throat doctor thinks that the health problems I have been having may be because of a car accident that I was in before my son was born. At the time, the doctors would not do any testing on me or let me have anything for pain except Tylenol. I slept sitting up on the couch for the last month of my pregnancy because it hurt too much to lay down. Then after my son was born, nobody ever thought to check my back or neck for problems because the focus turned to my son. He was a special needs child and we were going here or there- to drs. and hospitals. That was almost nine years ago, but I suppose if there was a problem that was never treated it could linger all of these years.

It is sad that yo have to forget about your health because yo have to attend to your son's needs but since he's grown up and less demanding, it is time for you to get medical attention . if you want to continue attending to your son's need you better take care of your health, too!

Wow nine years is a long time to be experiencing the problems. I can see how it has worsen too because it has gone untreated. I do hope you can get some relief for it some time soon, as I can imagine how terrible this must be to have undergone for so long.

The ENT is sending me for an MRI of my back and neck. I have had a lot of physical therapy but they just put me diagnosis as fibromyalgia- which is a type of arthritis.

You might want to try "yoga meditation". It might help relieving the neck pain. I have heard of many cases where practising meditation cured migraine, even cases of people suffering from migraine for many years. I was having severe gaut problem before, indeed very painful. After practising meditation for some time regularly, gaut did not come any more.
Wish you good health !

It sounds like you need to see a chiropractor. It may sound a bit ridiculous but many health issues stem from our spines being out of alignment. A lot of times, headaches are caused by the vertabrae in your neck being out of place. I used to get headaches all the time and I started going to the chiro to get adjusted every once in a while and my headaches went away. Now, I can feel when my neck needs to be adjusted because certain spots are tender and I'll start getting headaches.
A car accident would definitely cause these types of problems and since you went untreated, this is why you're starting to have problems now. Medication will only take away the pain, it's not going to treat the actual problem you may be having in your neck.
I would definitely recommend seeing a chiropractor and getting their opinion. I get pains in my neck which then causes headaches, but once I go to the chiro and get adjusted, my body feels great and I don't have anymore headaches are issues with pain.

You might want to go see a chiropractor. I had a lot of pain in my neck and shoulders. I would be awake all night with tears in my eyes. No position is comfortable. I had these problems for over 4 years. I finally went to see a chiropractor. Apparently my hips were turning in opposite directions and the rest of my body was over compensating to keep me upright. Explains why no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't roll my hips when I danced. A chiropractor isn't someone you go and see once. There are a lot of follow ups to re-train your muscles. Otherwise, eventually your muscles would just pull everything out of alignment again. Your health insurance may cover it.
