Harry Potter: It All Ends

I've been a Harry Potter fan even before the movies came out. I read the Philosopher's Stone/Sorcerer's Stone when I was 13 years old. Honestly, I'm not a bookworm, and I don't usually read books or novels. But Harry Potter was different for me. It really was like I was under a spell or something. I couldn't put my book down. So when the movie came out, I watched it with my friends and enjoyed every minute of it. Now, almost a decade has passed and the last movie is about to be shown. I will definitely cry inside the theater. The feeling would be like graduating from high school. The feeling that you'll be apart from your friends from now on because you'll be attending different colleges. I should be preparing for a lot of tissues for the premiere this coming week. Who among you guys are big Harry Potter fans? Share your stories about your excitement of the upcoming finale. :)

I will be totally honest - I am a huge Harry Potter geek. Someone recommended them to me when the first one came out, before they were big, and I got hooked. I can recite the first page from memory, I've read them so many times. I'm currently re-reading them all again in preparation for the films. I'm about two thirds of the way through Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and will finish it today. I expect I'll then make some progress on Harry potter and the order of the phoenix, which I hope to finish by tomorrow evening at the latest. Wednesday I have the house to myself, so I'll read all of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (my favourite) which gives me thursday and friday to read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows :) I'm sad to see the end, but I was more sad about the ending of the books than I am about the ending of the movies - after all, the books are what sparked my Harry Potter obsession, not the movies. I enjoy the movies, but I'm hopeless for criticizing them, I just can't help myself from pointing out everything that's different/wrong in them. I'm going to see the finale on Friday (though unfortunately not at midnight as I'm taking my little sister who's only 9). My family are all going, and we're taking my boyfriend too. My sister's planning to go as Hermione, but I'm just going to wear green, subtly show off my house allegiances.... lol.

Drasnian - Slytherin?! How could you be a Slytherin? You said that the Half-blood Prince is your favorite book. Does that mean that you are a Snape fan as well?

Wow, you read so fast! I can't do that! Haha! I read so slow, it took me more than a week to finish the first book. Imagine, how long it took for me to finish the other "thicker" books! Haha! That sounds like fun- your sister going as Hermione! I should do that too, even if I'm not a 9-year old. Haha! I actually went to see Goblet of Fire as Hermione, with a bunch of Harry Potter geeks. It was really fun! :)

pinkpiglet - I've finished book 4, barely started book 5 though, better get motivated today! We had a harry potter party last week and everyone dressed up, I went as Luna, and we had themed drinking games etc. It was a really good laugh! purplealabaster - I most definitely am a Snape fan, aren't you? He's just so much fun as a character - especially if you're a fanfic reader/writer. Well, someone has to be in Slytherin :P They can't all be evil - look at Regulus, he was Slytherin and he didn't turn out all bad, did he? Peter Pettigrew on the other hand, was a Gryffindor, associated with being good, noble and brave, and yet turned out to be a huge coward/generally terrible person! Don't you think the Slytherins would just have more fun? McGonagall etc strike you as the sort of teachers who try not to be house prejudiced (apart from in Quidditch maybe!), so no loss there, but Snape actively dislikes anyone not in his house, so from that point of view being in Slytherin's a bonus. Plus, everyone expects a certain amount of trouble from the Slytherins, so you'd get a bit more leeway and generally get to have a bit more fun. You just know if any of the houses were going to have parties, play drinking games etc it would be Slytherin - it's got to make the school year more entertaining. And as slytherin is for "those of great ambition"....well it always helps to have friends in high places! Which house would you be then?

I read the first Harry Potter books to talk with my grandsons years ago. Then I went to see the first movies with them and two younger ones. I had not seen the last 2 Harry Potter movies because grandchildren grew and they did not invite the ol´ granma but preferred to go with friends. But I spent 4 days at the hospital (came back yesterday night) and had the pleasure of seeing in TV the two films I had missed. It helped me a lot to forget my health problems and I´m looking forward for the last movie. If I can´t go and see it in a theater due to my health, I´ll wait until it´s at the Blockbuster. I share your expectations and worry about the outcoming. As you see, not only young people love Harry Potter

I am glad that you have finally gotten to see the two movies that you missed, and I am especially glad that they helped to take your mind off how you were feeling in the hospital. I always watched the Harry Potter movies in theaters with my sister as close to opening day as we could manage to get there. We had plans to watch the last one as well, but unfortunately that was not meant to be. I was not going to go watch it either, but I finally decided to go. I was crying in the theater for more than one reason that day, but I am glad that I went. I hope that you are able to make it to the theater to see the last film. If you are not, then I definitely hope you see it as soon as you can. I would not miss seeing this last film ... tears and all.

Aww, it's so good to hear Harry Potter fans from different generations! It just proves how we're all affected by the magic that J.K. Rowling created. I, too, would definitely not miss seeing this last film. That's for sure!

THere are movies, songs and books that are mixed deeply with special situations in our lives. Harry Potter was THE saga my grandchildren read and they would not miss one of the movies. Probably I would not have read them if it wasn´t for them. So it happened that HP became part of my life, just as HP is part of purplealabaster´s relation with her loved sister. My own childhood has more Tom & Jerry and that wicked Tweety and I still watch them at TV

Hi pinkpiglet! I'm also a Harry Potter fan! I've read all the books and watched all the movies. I'm really excited to see the final movie. I've been waiting for it even before Part 1 came out last year. I was really sad upon learning about the final movie. I couldn't get enough of the books so I really watched all the movies. Aside from that, I also downloaded the movies. I won't be crying when I watch the last final movie this July but I will surely be sad. I will miss Harry Potter and his adventures. Cheers.

Yes, it is indeed sad that it's ending. After all, all things must end... But the important part is that we all enjoyed the Harry Potter journey from the start until the end. We have supported the whole series, the cast, the author and everyone behind Harry Potter. And it's very nice to think that we, the fans, have also contributed to what Harry Potter is really all about. :)

Actually I have copies of all movies from the beginning of Harry and my son also purchase the book. Eventhough it is not real and all magic it is entertainment and the especial effect are best.. I'm sure I will get also the copy of this final one

Before getting a copy, bring your kids to the theater and watch the film on big screen. Trust me, it's worth every penny. The experience you get while watching with fellow Harry Potter fans in the theater is just amazing.

Same here. I am a big fan of the book and as well as the movie. I'm excited and sad that the last installment of the movie will now be shown. When you feel like you are missing them. You can always read the books or watch the movies in DVD. I know that is what I do. :)

Thank God for DVDs, and of course the books, because we can always go back and still make the Harry Potter alive in our hearts. :) I can't wait to have the last film's DVD! Even if it's not even out in theaters yet. Haha!

a witch like Harry Potter is extremely different in looks to compare the witches found here in the Philippine Provinces....

Harry Potter and his classmates are all belong to the good kind of witches... they use magic wands and spells... countries on their origin - their witches is like a hero, a power having a freewill to use it in evil, to help others, or for the good of mankind... that is the very nice of it... because, of all the witches, only Harry Potter and his classmates are the witches that symbolized as a hero... you may check the introduction of the story of Harry Potter in all of the Harry Potter website to read how kind of a witch Potter is.... unlike the witches in the Philippines is a horror and a wicked form of tradition to the provinces...

I might heard the same comments from a co - worker of mine, she is also a big fan of Harry Potter, and she love every single episode of it. Oh yeah, it was amazing, that I still remember watch the first Harry Potter at DVD. I am not a big fan of this movie, but seeing those small actor and actress growing up, I feel that I am old too. I am not a big fan of Harry Potter series, nor I did read this book, but glad there are so many Harry Potter's fan exists.

It's good to know that even if you're not a big fan, you still appreciate Harry Potter. :) It's okay if you're not a fan because we all have our own interests. But I'm glad that you're not a hater. :)

J.K. Rowling is a great author. When we are reading the Harry Potter story we just forget the time. It creates that interest. And every Harry Potter movie is different from each other...

Harry Potter is like a wild roller coaster ride. You have your dose of adrenaline rush, thirst, paranoia. Been a harry potter fan, since its first movie. Me and my friends enjoys a lot of chats about this. I have books and other paraphernalia.
