Early in the morning I was riding a bus with my kid. A man beside me in my left asked me how much is the fare, but I cannot answer him immediately because I smell bad breath while he was talking. I feel upset but I answered him nicely. After that a man in my right side when he raises his hand, Oh! the same I smell bad odor from his armpit. What do you think the most unhealthy? for me it's the same....

I think it's a very hard decision. i was in the bus once and then there was a guy who's mouth smelled terrible. I almost fainted. It smelled soo bad that I had to chew a gum myself to mask the smell. Underarm smell is also horrible *shrugs* The deodorant part doesn't matter to me but a shower is required. Maybe you would smell bad at the end of the day but it is important to have a good hygiene. So far, i never felt like fainting with sweat odor...so the bad breath is the worst!

It's a difficult decision to make, as I think that both are bad and unpleasant. I don't know if I feel comfortable saying that one is worse than the other, because they're just both very unpleasant to have to deal with, as I have said. One is pretty much as bad as the other.

Hi celestial,
As a sufferer both problems are quite uncomfortable for us. Unfortunately the person may be unaware about his/her problem and it makes the situation worst. I think we have to inform that person and ask him/her take necessary step or treatment. But I agree it is impossible in a bus travel, to tell a stranger about his/her bad smell and it is somewhat insulting too. The only option is to tolerate. If the person is known to me, I won’t mind to tell the same to him/her because it is a health concern and should take further steps to heal the same.

If you have breath fresheners or toothpaste, then bad breath can easily be solved. However, underarm odor is more costly timewise. It only takes a few minutes to get rid of bad breath, even a few seconds with something that makes your breath odor smell good. Underarm odor, on the other hand, takes up to 20 to 30 minutes in a bath or a shower to wash and cleanse the stinky smell off.
All in all, i'd say underarm odor is worst. It takes longer than to easily freshen your breath. When you're on the move and you have smelly arms, unless you have deodorant on you, there's nothing you can do about it until you go back and bathe or shower to get the smell out. But when you're on the move and you have bad breath, if you have breath fresheners, the problem is solved in seconds. So yeah, as I said, underarm odor is the worst.

I think the bad breath is much more terrible. When you are talking with this person, you can smell his bad breath and you can't avoid it. As to the underarm odor, I think it won't smell as horrible as the bad breath. Besides, you will not notice it if you are not so close with this person.
I love China

Hi, celestial052506. I truly believe that they both can be quite yucky. I mean, I don't want to smell someones stinky breath, because that is just personal. Their breath reeks of what they ate, or the fact that they have not properly cleaned their mouth. If their arm pits smell, then, I can smell a part of their body that has not been cleaned like it should have been. If someone does not use deodorant then this will make them smell really bad.

How could you be in such smelly situation that very early morning! Too unfortunate for you. I would go crazy if I were you. I hate both and would never want to get close to smelly people. I think it is every one's responsibility to practice good hygiene not only for himself but for other people's sake as well.

Bad breath is the worst! I have known a friend for 16 years. She still smells the same when she was in high school. So smelly when she open her mouth. Sometimes she even come nearer to talk to me and I can't answer her immediately for I will open my mouth and the smell went into my mouth. Sometimes I just swallow the bad breath for scaring her will know and not befriended me anymore. So far I have advise her to use mouth detergent and chew bubblegum. She is a female friend of mine and I wouldn't let her get embarrassed infront of her boyfriend or so called colleagues.

For me, they are both bad. It nearly makes me sick to smell bad breath or body odor. However, I work in a factory and by the end of the day, people are pretty sweaty and can start to smell sometimes. For me, bad breath smells a lot worse than body odor. It just seems to be a stronger, much more unpleasant smell.

A very good question to say the very least. You could make some arguments for both of them. I think that bad breath is really slightly worse. Not that underarm odor is something that is extremely healthy. It is just that bad breath tends to be very worse for a number of reasons. Not to mention that bad breath might indicate something wrong with someone's teeth and that can cause an odor, which is not good news.
I think partially an underarm odor can be masked a lot easier, as it is not directly smelled if a shirt is on. However there are times where people tend to open their mouth and it kind of catches you off guard. There is really no guard unless they keep their mouth shut all of the time. Which is something that can be a little bit tricky to manage. So I would have to go with bad breath as the worst of the two things.

The most unhealthy, the bad breath, without doubts!
Yes, in bus it happens very often xD
