okay so last friday, my samsung corby 2 got soaked in the rain. i did not expect the bag i was wearing was not 100% water resistant. the rain was so hard and since it was a knapsack,, i had it on my back. letting the rain drop in my bag and well there.... oh my! when i came home i saw my bag was flooded and there was my phone.. dipped in the water =(
so there i took our blower, dried it over there, until the phone was a bit hot. haha oh well i blow dried the phone about 30 minutes and let it stay over night without opening it... in the morning.. it was just plain white screen.. i thought oh noh i only had this phone for a month and its not working already.. =(
Thank God it was better in the afternoon now... and the screen was back to the way it was.. my only problem was that the keys are not perfectly working. the middle key is not working really well i had to like press it too much, too many times actually before the menu would display...
i wonder how i can improve it? hehe oh thanks all i just want to rant maybe.. but really Thank God it worked again... never again i will let my phones be in my bag like that.

A few years ago my phone fell into the watery ditch and fortunately there is help to repair the inside of the phone. But it did not last long and the phone was damaged and no longer used. I don't know how to fix it but I will let it dry before attempt to switch it on back.(^^)

Hi, I am sorry to know about that. But I suggest you not to switch on your mobile phone that fast until you are sure that the components inside the phone have become completely dried. The battery may even explode as the water inside your phone may lead to short-circuit. I have come across an article suggesting that you have to wait for at least 2-3 days to switch on your mobile phone again if it soaked in water.
You are very lucky indeed. Once I have dropped my mobile phone into the toilet, and in my city, we use sea water to flush...The salty water made my phone totally out of order as the components inside oxidized. I was so unhappy and because of that very sad experience, I started using mobile phone stripe in order to avoid the same thing happen again...You also have to be careful next time!

It is a lesson for you chiyosan. Phones are really sensitive to water. I had a friend also whom her phone was soak into the basin. What she do is, she get her sim card and battery from the phone. Then She use a blower to let it dry. Afterwards, she was advised to put it on the rice container and let the rice absorb the water from the phone. I think, she left the phone in the rice container for 3 days until it is really dry.. Now it is working perfectly. or maybe you can consult a technician to fix it, but you need to shell out money for the service

just open it.. and soaked the keypad are properly.. or get cleaned it from white petrol.. after this it's not working its mean its keypad i.c. needs to be changed.. if your phones is touch screen then get it opened .. get cleaned its touch screen properly... if its touch screen is not working after that then touch screen need to be changed.. touch screen is a thin glass(or may be paper glass) screen between display and body screen...

rule #1 if your phone is soaked wet is "never blow dry it".. #2 do not turn it on after it was soaked. It will just ruin the circuit board of your mobile phone. just remove the battery and put the phone in a bag of rice for 24hours. because rice absorbs moisture and the phone will be working just fine right after it is fully dry. Now that your keys are not working well, try to have it fixed at a phone shop. Hope your phones gonna be fine.

Samsung corby is a costly mobile. And when our mobile dropped in water or soaked in the rain, we immediately dissemble the mobile and keep it in a dry place like under the sun. Then after some time we have to assemble and can use it as usual, it any problem arises then we go for service center.

Not sure if the keypad was damaged to the blow drying. It might have melted some parts in there.
Samsung after sales service is very good actually and you could have returned it to the Samsung Service Center. Usually Samsung electronics will accept and even replace the product without any questions at all. I once had bought a Samsung HDD in Korea and when we had a flash flood two or three years ago, it got under water as well for two days. I had it returned in Korea, and the person who did it for me told me that Samsung replaced it in 5 minutes without any questions.
Good that your phone is working again but sorry to hear about the keypad. I believe though that you shouldn't have blow dried it and just got your warranty instead since you just bought it in one month's time.

I have dropped my phone alot of times and once as I was doing the dishes whilst on the phone, I dropped it in the sink. I was so scared and I took it out of there immediately and opened up everything. I separated the back cover and the battery and tried to dry it. Thank god it works perfectly even today. I will never do that ever again!!

Samsung phones are not easily damaged by water, so you should not worry too much about it. From my experience in dealing with damaged phones, especially those that has faulty keypads as caused by water, just follow my procedure and your phone will be working as usual
I hope you have removed the battery.
1. Find screw-drivers that can remove phone screws.
2. Uncover(remove the housing) and use home dry cleaner or white spirit to remove any rust from the phone mother board.. This usually dry up within seconds.
3. Slowly peel off that thin paper that hold thin round plates- main keypads and gently scratch the area of contact (both the plates and the mother board.
4. Reseal the the keypads back and dry up you phone- use your drier.
5.Re-instal the phone back in its housing and fix the screws back into their position.. You are done.

Hi chiyosan,
I had a similar experience a few years ago but only worse.I accidentally dropped my phone on the toilet bowl.Out of reflex,I picked up my phone immediately without realizing how disgusting that was.Well at least the water was clear. It took me hours to sanitize my hand. And of course I could not turn on my phone so I had to bring it to a cellphone store for repair.Fortunately, they were able to fix it.I later found out that one way to fix phones with liquid damage is to soak it in rice(uncooked)as this absorbs the water.Well let us just be careful next time:-)
