Do you wonder what your dog does when you are gone?

I mean seriously. Thing about it. There are so many things that I have my dog knowing is wrong, but I often wonder if she just gets crazy while I am gone and does things like rub her rear on the carpet, bark until she drops or runs up all over the couch laughing at me while I am gone.
I already know she took a stuffed frog behind the couch and chewed it's insides out while I was gone one day. I left it there and now she sleeps on it when she is not in the mood for people to see her.
So, what does your dog do while you are gone? Have you found something that they did that they are not permitted to do while you are home?

Hello Hardworker,
I don't need to wonder what does my dog do when she's home alone because I know this for sure: she sleeps.
I never leave home without tiring her first. I leave to work at 7:45 every workday so I have to wake up at 5:30 to have enough time to take her for a long morning walk. We usually walk for an hour and a half first thing in the morning. We run, we play, we do some obedience exercises and, after all this, she's more than tired and happy to be left alone to get some rest.
If I come home by surprise at an unusual hour, I find her sleeping. She doesn't move a thing during those 8 or 9 hours when she's home alone.
She even does the same during weekends, when we don't leave town. She gets tired during the morning walk so after that she sleeps till 16.00 in the afternoon.

I am too attached to my pet and since I am home most of the time she follows me everywhere. I have to sneak out till I am way out of my gate and then she is let loose but if someone else is there she tolerates this absence!

Well, we got three dogs. I don't wonder what they do when we're gone... cause I rarely leave the home and I don't see them too often either. They're outside. But let me tell you what our dogs do.
They sit in front of a tree (strange) and then bark as if talking to somebody. That's what they do, at least one of them does this always. The other one is busy playing with the neighbor's dog. They love each other. It's easy to see. The other one is the only one tied because she is so dangerous. She just bites other people. She does not bark, but just bites and that could be dangerous. She's smart and can escape though.
The only thing they do that is not permitted is.. well one of our dogs like bothering us while we are sleeping at night. He is so noisy.

LOL. that's not the only odd thing they do. They also eat insects by jumping in the air and catching them and also eating grass... But I'm sure their mom and dad are both dogs..

Hi!
Guess the dogs have their own way to amuse themselves..

Sounds like you have a unique pair there! Are you sure there's not a squirrel or something in the tree he is talking to? Otherwise that's odd. LOL :)

my one dog will take the stuffing out of all her toys and shred papers when she is in the mood. She will even take the stuffing out a dog bed, no matter how nice it is. When the mood strikes her.
I have caught my dog in the living room when I am not home too. We gate them in the kitchen and dining room when we are all gone, but there is a half wall separating them from the living room and we gate the doorway...one of my dogs can jump over and sleep on the couch and then jump back. Sometimes she will pee on the rug but when I come home they are both in the kitchen playing dumb.
One day I surprised them by coming home during the day - lol - and Trixie was sleeping in the living room. You had to see her expression when she lifted her head and saw me - busted!

I swear I think my dog jumps on the couch the second we leave and just rubs all over it! LOL

I know what my dog does, he goes to bed. Whenever we return home he is either still in his bed or just walking down the stairs where his bed is. He's quiet a lazy little thing and enjoys being comfy and I guess we all like to be in our beds and be comfy.
We also know he barks for about 10 minutes as soon as we have left the house, luckly we have understanding neighbours who appreciate having a dog next door as it can deter burglers.

Yes, the dog has a really hard life. I mean he gets out of bed after we do and then he gets his breakfast handed to him on a plate, he then spends the day rolling around on his back, walking, sleeping and always in company. His evening meal is again handed to him on a plate and then he retires to his bed whenever he wants. Oh the life of a dog is hard!

Sounds good! Glad to hear you have neighbors that understand. I am lucky in that respect as well but then again my neighbors have 8 dogs!

I never leave her alone as I know exactly what she will be up to. She will bring the whole roof down, she will howl till I return. No Thank you. I would rather not socialise than leave her alone. I go out only when she has company.

Wow! I am glad my dog doesn't make me a prisoner in my own home! I love to go out and socialize too much!

I am not comfortable if my dog should howl when I am not around as it will disturb the neighbours. But I do go out when there is somebody in the house. Some don't mind as my next door neighbour's dog does that and they are least bothered even after that has been brought to their notice. They are not there to know what a nuisance it is for others.

It sounds like you are much more considerate than your neighbors! Good for you! I wish I had some more considerate neighbors like you!

Welcome! My dogs are spoiled they are permitted to get on the couch, bed, recliner you name it, they've tested it out, I'm sure. They are not permitted in the trash cans though. We come home on a regular basis and find that the children have rummaged through the trash and it's scattered all over the floor. We tried placing a gate so the trash would be blocked off. But low and behold the little critters climbed over the gate and got to it anyway. Best Wishes!

I think it's funny that you referred to your dogs as children. I too do that! I call mine Furbabies! :)

I currently do not have a dog or pets, outside of my fishes. My landlord does not allow pets in the building.
I can imagine dogs being like children that as soon as they get their free moment they are prancing into all they can get into to. Too cute and sometimes not fun as one has to come back and clean up after them, see just like kids. lol

My dog is really well behaved. We have not found any chewed on shoes or destroyed stuffed animals(and my daughter leaves plenty lying around.) I think he pretty much just goes from one sleeping place to the next. He has 4 that he uses frequently. I am pretty sure he does not get up on the new furniture based on the fact that i have not found tons of dog hair all over it.

You are so lucky to not found anything chewed up. I never had this problem until we let the big dog stay in the house one night.

Yes. Both my dogs and cats do things they know they are not suppose to when they think we're not home. My plants on a shelf are fine as long as I'm home, but, as soon as they think I'm gone the plants end up on the floor or chewed on. The dog eats the cat poop. They all get on the counters.

Sounds like you have normal animals. Luckily for me my cat doesn't eat the plants or anything like that. However, if we leave the big dog in while we are gone she does chew up the furniture! ARRRGGHH!

I often come home to find my dog sitting on the couch. She just looks up at me with guilty eyes.
The bigger dog chewed up the arm of a brand new chair when my daughter was house sitting. UGH!!
