Illegal Drugs: A Great Business Even For The Autorities

For almost a month now, I have been bothered by this issue. Although I heard this for ages, this time one of my friends is involved.
I am not concluding he's innocent or guilty, but how the police authorities dealt with him when he was supposedly caught dealing with illegal drugs is something that made my blood pressure raised.
Imagine, even before he was brought to the police station, he was asked by the police officers fifty thousand pesos. And as told by the wife, if that amount was not given, by 24 hours it would be two hundred thousand. Not certain about the case if he will be released or it will be down-graded to just possession with a lower penalty. And told her not to give them anything.
They gave the police ten thousand that night. And the police asked another twenty five thousand the following day but they refused to or they were not able to raised that money. So the police filed the case the following working day. Drug dealing with a life time imprisonment and possession.
I just couldn't tell if the police will really help them (as they promised to help) when the case will be heard in the court.
Before I will forget, the subject accused in this case also told me that the evidences were just planted that will make the case against him stronger.
What's your idea about this issue?
Have you heard something like this incident from your location?

I have heard so many cases regarding this. This kind of cases really pisses me off. I have heard a similar one from Mon Tulfo and that's why he's encouraging people to take a stand and be courageous when you're innocent. Go to media if you must, but then in exchange your life might be at risk.
I would like to advice your friend to tell his wife to go to PAO (Public Attorneys Office) and consult such thing to a lawyer there. Anyway, they're free.

you know, i even told this case both to the prosecution and the public attorney's office. both even told me that there is nothing they can do to help this friend of my and suggested that let him fight the case in the court. what is more disappointing is the fact that even these two offices know about the practices of the police officers in the area.

If he has a good lawyer they could go for the constitutionality of the case. Too bad that we can't seem to trust people who are supposed to give us justice.

if only they have enough money to pay a better lawyer. like i have said, even the PAO lawyers know about the bargaining or what we call "hulidap" activities of the authorities and so they have difficulty depending their clients. that's right, the people supposed to give us justice are not even worth our trust.

hi neildc,
i have heard many incidents like that and it is very sad hearing so many innocent people being framed up. i have a very low "trust" score with the police nowadays. i don't think i can ever trust them. i do believe that there are a few good men in the police department but they are being outscored by the lowly men in uniform. i really hope and pray that the corruption and the evil within the police department will be defeated and eradicated before a lot more innocent people will be framed up and imprisoned. a lot of uniformed men and public officials here in our are collaborate also so they can extort hundreds of thousands with businessmen here in our area. i can not really mention their names since they really know how to erase their tracks and avoid paper trails. they only accept hard cash and not checks even if they ask for large amount of money. if businessmen wouldn't give in to the amount they ask, these uniformed men and public officials will find anything under the sun to frame you up making you close down your business or give you hard time in procuring licenses or permits to operate your business. with that said, i pray that your friend will find help in other non-government agencies who can fight his plight/case so he will be able to be a free man again and i pray that those who did these to him will be dismissed in service and be put behind bars.
take care and bless you always...

very sad indeed when people who should be protecting us are the ones who harm us. just like you, i wish too i can do more than talk..but i guess, the power of prayer is more than enough to make them pay for their evil deeds. they may escape the law of this world but never God's Hands.

hi faith. it's really sad to know that these evil works of "some" of the men in uniform are present not only in this area and of yours but in most and almost everywhere. and very disappointing to accept that those we accept to serve and protect us are those who are making the lives of some of our countrymen more miserable. i really wish i can do more than talk. i wish i can go behind them and personally put them behind bars.

SOunds like he is being railroaded.
and if police planted the stuff will be hard for the person to get out of it they should have never paid anything for that sounds to me like they are acting quilty.
If they are afraid to stick up for themselves they are lost and I just hope if he goes to court that he wins his case.
Never heard of cops asking for upfront money they have to wait for bails bondsman if they can get one.

that's what i told them, not to give the police what they were asking for and if ever they have money, save it for bail bond if the case will be filed in court.

This is actually an old issue where even police authorities are involved with such illegal business. I am not generalizing, but it is really true that these police are either users, possessors, pushers or protectors. With your post, such is another way of bribery and corruption. They ask for a sum in order to release the person, and the bad thing is that they will pressure the person to come out with an amount in exchange of the release. I hate it because this kind of business is very much obvious and people fears to complain. But, if I were your friend, I would prefer to get imprisoned rather than taking their offer. That can be his defense too. Let those police suffer and learn.

Hello Neildc,
Nice of you to be back here, and what a very disturbing even though the issue is no surprising. I understand that it's giving a bad impression on you because of this has happened to your friend and the cops seemed to be dangerous.
I don't understand, there are only a few of them and yet most of them do this kind of things. it scares the hell out of our own ordinary people. I feel for you buddy, the anger and disturbing issue as it is. I have nothing to say as if there's anything I can do for your friend

i really don't think they should be dealing that way with the family of the accused. and now, they seem to be the victims of these crooked cops.
