Apologizing to Mother Nature

I use a lot of paper daily and i make sure that I use both sides before I throw them in the trash. Since our whole office uses a lot of paper I thought they would have some sort of recycling method to make money from waste paper and help the environment. We help organize an environment conservation exhibition so I thought management would be concerned of these matters.
I found out from a colleague that my office has no method of recycling and they just throw everything out.
I feel so bad. We used to have a room full of unused printed material and that was cleared just recently and they just threw the paper out without recycling. Even if both sides of the paper has print, it can still be recycled right?
I told my boss to propose some sort of recycling method to the management and he just gave me a pat in the head and said that i should get a medal for trying to save the company some money.
What about Mother Nature? Some still havent stuck it in their minds that the earth will get destroyed soon if we dont recycle.

How i wish you are here,or i mean your company is here, then surely we can make some few cents from those used paper.
We can asks one mylotter who owns a junk shop to buy those use paper for recycling.
But since you're too far, there is no way i can help you with that.
Or maybe we can start a "junk shop" business in there my friend

my mom has a junkie junkie fund raiser project for our foundation in the Philippines and she raised more than 10k through this in a year.
recycling here is quiet different. i dont see 'small time' junk shops. Only huge recycling companies with govt approval. UAE actually has a good program for recycling and earth conservation.
My office is just too lazy to do segregation of waste.

If it weighs that heavy on you, you could start something yourself. I am guessing your office is large and you could not do all the recycling all by yourself. But you could bring in a bin and when it fills up, take it to be recycled.
You could also ask them to use sustainably harvested paper, but good luck on that one... :)

Hi ddaguno
Yes it is a shame you do not have that in your office. I have worked for a number of places that absolutely recycles. We have cut up into squares paper to be used in place of buying sticky note pads. Also being in the medical field it is very highly monitored that for the privacy act laws that paper shredding is a must. I have also worked in offices where a service picks up the shredded paper and logs are a must as to their disposal.
Yes I do believe a lot more effort should be made as yes it does preserve trees, money, and the environment.

you are so right - office waste and paper should definitely be recycled, it's fine if there is printing on both sides! The truth is that recycling doesn't cost anything and it can make a huge difference to the environment - you should set up a special recycling box for all the old paper and then get it recycled. That will help you to feel better about the unnecessary waste in your company!
