...with social sites annoy me. I gather that you suddenly feel this way because other people TOLD you that you spend too much time there OR you feel guilty because you feel you are neglecting other things. Haven't you ever heard of BALANCE? There is nothing good to be gained by suddenly quitting things you enjoy because someone told you to, or because you feel guilty.
Secondly - how can anybody on this planet EVER be bored? I have asked this question before I think but to be honest, I have never received an acceptable answer. If you're bored, you're dead, in my opinion. Is this world really that full of walking DEAD people?

You are right. There is no possible way on earth that anyone should be bored in life. Especially in this day and age with all of the things that we have to stimulate our mind. That is actually the problem. There are so many things to stimulate young people in today's society that they do not develop a good imagination.

This is why I love art stuff and books and these little 'pets' we have, my daughter's 'babies'. They are little furry creatures and you should see her with her friends, the 'babies' have these long detailed conversations, they go shopping, they go to school, they go to work. They learn and teach, it's hilarious.
I remember doing some of the same things as a kid.

As a kid, I remember just being out and about exploring my town and it's surrounds all the time. Whether I was on foot, riding my bike or on my skateboard, there was always something to do. I never got bored, ever!

I haven't been "bored" in ages. I think the emotion is more for children...it serves a purpose though...it is supposed to help develop the imagination. I'm not sure it does that anymore though..people struggle to find ways to keep their children from the word bored.

The problem is that I hear this from adults. And when they TELL me about their lives and why they are so boring, all I can think is 'no wonder, you never do anything' LOL! One thing I've learned as a mom is that mom can make something out of nothing, entertain with nothing, and do it with a smile.

mommyboo I an 84 giong on 85 and I love life. Life is too bull of new and different things to ever be bored, the alternative well lets just say I am glad to be alive. Each day is a gift from God so I will enjoy it even if I have problems or upsets. Even if I would rather be in an apt again with my son I am here in Gold Crest and for today I am happy. People who get bored usually are very shallow and impatient, everything had to be instantaneous and if its not bored is the word they use.I love mylotting because of the vast variety of subjects and people here and the feeling of a large family here. Nope I am never bored as there are always new things to learn as I go along.

People want instant... like a microwave. The good stuff isn't instant. The good stuff takes time... to grow, to simmer, to put aside memories. The best friendships are long ones, the best gifts are long-awaited.
I don't enjoy waiting any more than anybody else does but I can find something to fulfill me while I wait instead of just expecting instant gratification LOL! And unlike mr Andy above in my thread - I love my life, every moment even the crappy ones. After all, if we are whining and complaining, we are still ALIVE to do it, right? And I live in a place where I have the freedom to do that and not fear for my life lol.

Well, I've never been one to say that I am bored with the social sites because there are a lot of things to do on those. However, I guess I have been one of these people that will say that I am bored from time to time. It isn't that I don't have things to do because I'm always busy doing something or another. However, I say that I am bored because those things that I am doing or have to get done are not stimulating to me.

I guess if you put it that way I can FEEL that something is boring from time to time, but that is just motivation to charge through whatever it as QUICK as I can so i waste less time on something I deem worthless lol. You know... like laundry. Or dishes. It's such a waste of good time having to do things like that, but unlike some people, I don't dawdle or procrastinate, I just DO the stuff so it's DONE and I can back to more enjoyable things.

I repeat what gifts stated above, WOW! Even very active and outgoing people experience boredom now and then, maybe even more so than those who lead a somewhat sedentary life and that is because these types of people constantly need to have their brain stimulated, looking for the next exciting and challenging thing and so they become "bored" with every day mundane things.
There is no such thing as 24 hour a day excitement.Life just isn't like that and yes anything overdone or routine can become boring and commonplace.
IMO a balanced life is the best life one can have, since things can still be enjoyed without it becoming an addiction.

So many people complain of being bored though when clearly I can point out about 500 things they could do, after which they would never be bored again. Bored or boring are considered 4 letter words, I never let my kids say they are bored because then I find something they do NOT want to do and make them do it.... I almost wish the same thing could apply to adults who claim to be bored.
Of course there is no 24/7 excitement, but that's not necessary to enjoy life. If you constantly need change or to keep your brain stimulated, there are hundreds of ways to do that - rather than to claim you are bored lol.

Your post made me laugh. You are actually right. There are so much to do nowadays to say that you are bored. People are just so lazy to get up and do something worth their time.

I'm glad it made SOMEBODY laugh! I swear sometimes people are just so focused on the wrong thing that they miss the funny parts . Personally, I think about all the stuff kids have now - I think I had an atari. My daughter has a WII and she also has all kinds of other cool things. I'm never bored anyway but if I were HER? Wow... as a kid I would think I had everything lol. Unfortunately, I have other stuff I don't really want, like dishes and laundry and cleaning. Heh.
