I don't know why i'm scared of looking at the mirror in the dark or in a public bath or toilet when i'm alone. I don't have a mirror in my room but i have it in my bathroom. The bathroom is in my room though. In my parents' house before i had a huge dresser with a huge mirror and a closet with a mirror too. At night when i turned off the lights before going to be, i never dared look at the mirror because i was just scared of what i would see. In my school before, i also didn't look at the mirror in the toilet when i was alone. I just feel that something is going to jump right out of the mirror and that really scare the wits out of me.

I think you have watched a lot of horror movies with that situations Toni. But, i am also afraid of looking at the mirror when the surrounding is dark. Besides, what do we like to see in a mirror if it is dark , when we know that we can't see anything on it.

Yes i guess so. But i think it's because of what the mirror reflects that scares me most. Sometimes we just don't expect what to see when we look at it !

I guess, we are both afraid of seeing another one beside us in the mirror when we look at it in the dark.

When you watch a lot of scary movies with mirrors you think theirs something in the mirror because I am afraid to look in the mirror when everyone's asleep because I am afraid that its not gonna be me looking back.

What scares me does not necessarily have to be a ghost or an entity from another dimension. It's more like the surprise of another person suddenly appearing next to me.

Mirrors are relflections of our souls just like our eyes are. They are also portals to the other side according to legend. A lot of people first see a ghost or what not in the mirror before they start hearing things in there house.

Yea but doesn't it surprise you when sometimes you think you're alone and then you're staring at the mirror, but all of a sudden you can see another person there? I'm not talking about another entity but i'm talking about another person who would suddenly crept in without you noticing and just popped out right there behind you. That scares me.

U know this mirror thing, getting scared of it is because of the horror movies. Every time someone looks in the mirror something scary has to come out!! That's just one of the examples but I gotta tell u that there r some scary sayings about mirrors which maybe correct, now I'm not trying to scare u or anything but I've heard some very spooky things about mirrors. They say that in my religion which is Islam there r jinns which maybe good or evil, they r like us but we can't see them, so u know what I'm going to say. Some people say that jinns can only be seen if they're in front of a mirror and I've many incidents like this before where people saw someone standing behind them. First of all, don't be scared because it's just a saying and second of all if u really have some problems with ghosts, like u attract them then it's better not to go in front of a mirror in the dark.

I'd rather be on the safe side. So saying or not saying, i won't look at the mirror in the dark and i won't look at the mirror when i'm alone in a strange public bathroom.

I too won't look in a mirror if there isn't a light on in the room. I've been like this since I can remember and I don't know why. I'm not scared of the paranormal as I've had that many experiences that it's very normal to me, so it doesn't make sense. I know there is the legend about saying a certain name 3 times whilst looking in a mirror, but for me I know it's not connected to that as it's something that I have never done and I'm not really sure if I believe in that particular legend.

Has no one else heard of the legend of saying a certain name 3 times whilst looking into a mirror? I thought there would have been some replies regarding it, or maybe from someone that had been daft enough to try it.

Plus the fact that there are so many superstitious beliefs regarding that though i don't believe in any. But feng shui also says that it's not good to have a mirror in the bedroom, but i don't believe that as well. Somehow it has just put fear into my mind.

I am scared of looking in the mirror in the dark too. But I guess if we do so, we'll not see anything except darkness. When there's light, I'm pretty comfortable looking in the mirror, be it when I'm alone or not.

When I'm alone in the house or in a familiar place, I don't have problems as well. Strange places and schools are just weird. Sometimes they got strange stories too. And suddenly just someone would pop up behind your back while looking at the mirror when you thought you were alone all the time. That's scary.
