It is sure that spicy flavor give some kick to your diet.
But this kick gives birth to another kick which we experience as burning in the chest again when the heartburn happens.
Consider dialing down the level of spices in your home-cooked meals and, when eating out.
What do you say...??

Hi busybee10, even though spicy food is one of my favorite dishes, I still take only the extent which suits my real gustation... For I don't want my mouth to be on fire. It's not enjoying anymore but actually a torture
My husband and his elder sister are both great freak of spicy food. They can take hot and spicy food that is hundred times that I can tolerate. Birds eye chili is considered to be the hottest stuff here and they would be full of appetite only when fresh cut birds eye chili is served in soy sauce on the dinner table That's why we have to grow some chili plants in our house compound all the time
Happy posting!

We grow two different varieties of birds eye chili plants. To me both have the same pungent taste. I enjoy dipping food from the soy sauce with juice fresh off lemon added to it but not the spicy chili slices
One of the chili plants grows yellowish fruit whereas the other is dark green in color. They turn red when they are ripe. These are cheaper in price compared to those ordinary chilies in the local market here, may be on account of the pungent and spicy savor that is not that well welcome by majority of the consumers
Have a nice day

Hi busybee!
As much as I do like spicy foods, i am avoiding it lately. Spicy foods can be disastrous to your stomach lining, the mucosal walls as Doctors call it.
Spicy foods are irritant, it will create an erosion to the wall and gradually it will destroy the mucus membranes in the stomach that protect from our own gastric acid. Eventually, this will cause bleeding and ulcers, and later becomes a big problem.
Maybe we have just to watched out for the frequency of in take and only take it moderately. Be healthy! Have a nice day, happy mylotting!

Hi busybee!
There is always exception to the rule because there are people with strong stomach lining, its just that they inherited that type of anatomy in their body. Its in the genes, that they do not destroy there stomach easily. Lucky for them.

I can't tolerate spicy foods and I don't have likes for them. As much as possible, I try to minimize spice in my home cooking as I know this will only adds to the pain my husband has to bear with his knee injuries. I know that spice can do wonders in some illnesses but they can also trigger some health condition like that concerns the ...!

Hi ravisivan, very glad to go through your response. That is right for some people taking pickles is not advisable and it is good to hear that you have studied as to what food suits your body and are also getting cautious to avoid - that is right..
Even the age works here hence depending upon age also we have to cut-short our desires on food to keep ourselves healthy and fit.

Continuous eating of spicy food will have its effects on our body and it definately is not good for our health. While cooking food we must make it a point not to make it very spicy. I know a few friends form Srilanka and one day while eating with them I realised that their food is much more spicy that what we have in India. They also said that it was normal for them. May be they are just used to that kind of food. The best thing is eat well and stay healthy..

Spices can be very addictive. I do not usually take very spicy foods, only when I am at some special restaurants which serve those special spicy dishes. Even there, I try to stay away from red pepper. That I cannot taste at all, just too hot. Yet, some of the spices have herbal value, I am told, garlic is an example.

Yes, spices truely hve herbal value but should be consumed in limits.
People add more to make it tasty and that is the main problem.
Any how glad to note that you are health concious and selective in consuming foods.

Quite true because too much spice can never be good to our body, it should always be in moderation. We do eat spicy food because here in India, all of the menus are with chili and spices so you can never out rule that out in their kitchen.
But the word here is precaution and moderation so we can eat not too much spicy and oily food else we will suffer also from piles and other sickness , like the one you mentioned above.

There by we shall be saving lot of money.

I am not fond of spicy and hot foods.
Whenever i visit my Indian friends, they even put less spicy and chili when they cook some foods.
I just can't take it,I tried, but it seems to burn my tongue and made me cry (hehehe)
Maybe for people who are used to eating spicy and chili,it doesn't affect them.

I love eating spicy foods, hot and spicy actually. I live in a place where people value the Chili tree more than they value the roof of their houses. Chili is very popular here in this place of the PHilippines. This is called Bicol, the land of Chili! I also have hyperacidity and heartburn, I only remedies the problem by taking in antacids whenever attacks occur.

hi magtibaygom,Very glad to note that and your brief message has added some extra knowledege in my knowledge bank. The importance of Chilli's in Philippines.
Well, this is an open topic and cnnot suggest any one. Even my Co-brother who stays in Maharashtra (Hadgaon - interior village) is also addicted to Chilli's and whenever I visit his place, they prepare a seperate food for our family.
