This happened last evening around 8 P.M. My husband and daughter were returning from the store opposite our apartment and my husband took my daughter on her bicycle to learn to ride it. The people in our building keep their two wheelers behind the building, inside the compound. There is much space to go cycling and so he took her there. But they were shocked to see an intruder stealing petrol from one of the vehicles. My husband slowly crept up on him and tried to catch him but unfortunately, the guy was too quick. He left everything there and fled. My husband then left my daughter inside the house, asked me to lock up and informed our house owner who stays upstairs and as both of them were inspecting the place the thief tried to come through another gate to take the things! How daring he is! My husband again gave the chase but fell down and bruised himself. Oh, it was so shocking! On hearing the sound I came out to see what had happened and there he was, the thief, running with a bottle of petrol! And then all of us in the whole building came out and were discussing the safety issues. It was actually an eye opener of how unsafe the place is! I had a lot of what ifs going on in my head and I usually stay inside the house safely locked. After this incident, I have become even more careful. I am acutally happy that my husband is also safe. What if the thief had some sharp metal and tried to hurt him? I thank all the gods who were with him at that time. Have you experienced anything like this? Please share.

wel I personally have not witnessed a robbery and I hope I will never do. But then again if i witness something like that, I think the smart thing to do is call for help or call the police. They are trained and it is their job to stop something like that. I, on the otherhand is quite sure that I will not be able to stop the robbers physically.

My sentiments exactly! I told my husband to leave it to the police. But it was an impulsive act on his part and I could do nothing to stop it. I, on the other hand, would definitely not have run after the thief! Nor am I in the right position to run now at eight months of pregnancy! Happy lotting.

hello devi, Good to hear everyone is safe. You are right, what if the thief has some sharp weapon and hurt your husband. And salute to your husband's bravery, not everyone has the guts to same thing. I haven't witnessed such incident and haven't encountered either. Now your neighborhood knows that it might happen again, and everyone should be vigilant and must take extra care as well. Hope you are fine and safe always

Hi jaiho. I am relieved too that nothing unpleasant happened. I have asked my husband to inform the police who come do the rounds every day. I don't know if he did it or not. It was brave but foolish too of my husband to run after the thief. It would have been better if he had just informed the police. I am just happy that he was not hurt.

Kudos to your husband for his brave act. I am glad that he is safe. Yes, the smarter decision could have been to call the police but I think your husband acted on impulse. As you said, there was so little time to think. You are lucky the thug didn't carry any weapons. Hope his bruises get healed soon.

Your husband is lucky to be safe. I admire his courage. But for me, it wasn't safe for him to do that because for just some petrol he could have endangered his life and you and your child if the robber retaliated. The best was to call the police immediately because many times these desperate criminals can potentially hurt or kill whoever gets in their way when they are threatened.
