I am a long term chronic insomniac. It is going on 3 am, my time, and I still am unable to sleep. I have taken some OTC medication and passing time while I hope the meds will take effect soon. My body is exhausted but my mind is stressed and wired up. I feel horrible. There is only one thing that i want to do: that is sleep, but I can't. I am not seeking advice because I have had this disorder since 1975 and I am usually the one who is giving advice. I am watching ABC World News while I work or play on my computer. If I still can not sleep by 4 am, I will switch to Imus in The Morning. There are nights when I can not sleep until 7 am or 8 am. As a true blue chronic insomniac, there is no predicting my sleep. I know that I will eventually sleep and that is a help. But I suspect that i will not feel good tomorrow. I had a lot of plans which I may have to alter.
I know that many mylotters are also insomniacs. I have offered good advice to some of those persons and I wonder how many mylotters are sharing my pain at this hour.

I don't usually have sleeping problems. But I don't know why for some reason, lately, I have it. Usually, when I come home tired, I can immediately sleep but lately, I have noticed that I can't easily sleep at night though my brain and body are already very tired and I have to wake up early in the morning for work. I just hope this won't be for long because I really don't feel good being in the office feeling tired and sleepless.
Have a great day :)

If it continues, I suggest that you seek medical attention. First, you should see your primary care physician who may refer you on to a sleep disorders specialist. Sometimes, sleeping problems can be temporary but other times it is long term or permanent.

I know how miserable I feel if I do not get sleep. I seldom have been unable to sleep, but I have had a few nights when I have been required to be up all night or most of the night for work related reasons. On the few occasions when my sleep was disturbed by me being wound up about something I would sit where I could hear, but not see the television and relax in the recliner, or for other things I would sit in a rocking chair and drink hot cocoa. When I had to stay up to drive or for work it was another case, and my body certainly hurt from not getting the sleep I needed whan I needed it.

I had a very difficult day. I finally fell asleep about daybreak. And was able to sleep on and off for about three or four hours. I felt awful but I still had to do errands. When I came home, I was able to nap until 4 pm and I felt so much better. Nut the day was gone and I did not do very much.
Chronic insomnia is a really terrible thing to have.

I know how you are feeling. I have never been diagnosed with a sleep disorder but I normally get around 3 to 4 hours in at a time and then wake up for several then get a slight nap. When I was working away from home I hardly got any sleep at all because I could not go to sleep on the job. I think that insomnia is much worse than a hangover ever will be. I actually posted that on my facebook page once a long time ago and got several responses. Now speaking of your time frame this morning I was up at 1:30 and did not get back to sleep until after 5 but I did manage to sleep off and on until 9.

I am new to mylot and I have noticed that there seems to be a lot of mylotters who have sleep disorders or are full blown insomniacs. From what you tell me, you do have a sleep disorder of some kind. But it also seems that, when it is all said and done, you get enough sleep.
If your sleep disorder is interfering with your life, I suggest that you see a sleep disorders specialist. But if you feel good and are doing ok with your sleeping pattern, then let it be. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" as the saying goes.
I finally got a little sleep but not enough and I feel horrible. It is also over 100 degrees today and I need to run errands. I feel really awful but I still need to do errands. I feel loopy for want of a better word. Later on, I will probably be able to take a nap or tonight I will sleep decently.

Sometimes I can't sleep due to emotional problem. I might have stress, or I have worries. I might feel exhausted during the day time, while at night time, I can't fall into sleep. Something that is not right on my body I guess usually under such condition. My piece of advice, do not force yourself to sleep, let it be. When you are tired, you will sleep the whole hours.

I do not force myself to sleep. It is impossible to do so. Last night, I finally fell asleep at daybreak and slept on and off for about three or four hours. I can not stay asleep. I can only sleep one or two hours at a time. I had a very difficult day but was able to nap this afternoon. And that helped but it has been a very unproductive day. I was not able to do much.

It's actually 3:00 pm where I am right now but I'm also insomniac. So I can feel your pain.
When I go home from work I feel so tired and after dinner I go right to bed. I will wake up around 9:00 to 11:00 pm at night when most people would go to bed and I won't be able to sleep until 5:00 or 6:00 am. So I usually wake up late around 8:00 am and go to work late almost everyday which is embarrassing.
I usually spend my waking hours in the wee of the nights doing boring online jobs, mylot being one of them. They pay small money but they help me spending my boring time waiting for my body to feel tired.
Do you have any suggestions to cure my insomnia?

I see that you are in Indonesia. I do not know what health care is like in your community but if you have access to health care, I suggest that you talk to your doctor. And then if possible see a sleep disorders specialist. There is a lot of research on insomnia and you can get a lot of information doing research.
There is no cure for my type of insomnia. I have had to learn how to live with it and manage it as best as I can. it has been difficult. You are fortunate that you are allowed to come in late to work. I lost job after job because of my insomnia. I almost became homeless. Now I receive social security. I have a part time job that brings in extra income and I live in government housing for lower income seniors.
Meditation might help you. It helps me sometimes. Massage is another great way to relax if you can afford a massage or have someone who enjoys massaging you. But the best thing for you to do is consult with a physician and or do some research.
Working on my computer helps me relax. I do not see mylot or any of my other sites as boring. I enjoy them and they help me relax. Plus I can earn a little money that improves my life. I have not been able to earn a good income because of my insomnia and every little bit helps.
