Why there is no development of games in linux as compared to windows?

There are many games launching day by day on windows platform but it is not even half in Linux platform. Why it is so?

If more people used linux then more developers and publishers would release games for it. Unfortunately linux is not user friendly enough for anyone to just pick it up and use it. Not everyone wants to learn advanced computing just to play games so publishers don't invest the money required for linux porting and publishing as they see it as a wasted investment.

A good example are modern consoles. They are fairly simple, dumbed down and extremely limited machines but they get the job done so people like using them. consoles currently sell more than pcs in the gaming industry simply because they are easier to use.

Windows is leading the market, so that means more potential buyers and therefore more profit. Also, linux supports only OpenGL, which isn't as powerful as Microsoft's DirectX.
