Hello fellow mylotters. I was in my yard last night with flip-flops on. I moved around in the grass and felt something on my foot. It felt like a burr, or a picker from a plant. I reached down to get it, being dark I cannot see what it is, and the thing moved! It was some large beetle that covered my toe! My BIG toe! I screamed and shook my foot and scraped my foot on the grass and the thing finally let go. I'm not sure that it did bite me, but it did have pretty good grabbers on the things it uses for feet.
Once my toe was free, I did commence to run to the other part of the yard. It was pretty scary.
Have you had a spooky experience with something in the yard or even when you were camping at night? Isn't it scary when you can't see what has got hold of you.

When I went swimming with my ex at a public beach there was this stinging I occasionally experience whenever I was walking the shallow part. I thought it was just some rocks floating around. My ex then screamed and said something bit her on her ankles. Everyone got out of the water and I ran to her to see what's going on. She told me there was some kind of monster fish swimming around that area.

Personally it makes me not miss living where there are large bugs during the summer months. Living here in this area having to worry about Slugs during the rainy wet times is bad enough. But I can remember a lot of horror stories regarding bugs or slugs and it makes me quite cautious where I step at night, or wear better shoes to protect myself.

Where have you moved that you do not have to deal with giant bugs? I thought everybody had those, except maybe Alaska and perpetually cold regions.
EWE, slugs are gross! I used to play with those things when I was little. I used to love playing with bugs when I was a kid, now I cannot stand them. Especially when they are grabbing my feet when I am walking through the yard at night!

hmmm maybee a new name is in order, something like toeeatingbug or maybe bugeatingtoe.
Bugs mice and a lot of other things can be quite scary. I don't like spiders or snakes when they come upon me quick like.

I saw a really pretty spider today. It had a metallic green body. I was so intrigued with it, I actually tried to get this spider in my hand so I could have a closer look. I no like spiders. He was small, quite unlike the large furry black thing that was running along the trellis last evening before it got dark. The little green guy fell into the grass and I could no longer see him.

My sister-in-law was pinched by a bug like that when she was little and still tells horror stories about that bug! Myself, I was playing in the sand with my boys and all of a sudden, some invisible thing PINCHED me really hard and then disappeared. My kids dug around in the sand and found this small, mad little crab with huge claws who waved them at us like he was the king of the beach. It was pretty funny, actually, but I had the mark from his pinch for weeks!

Haha this is quite a funny story! It must have been really creepy to feel this thing on your foot and not have any idea what it was at all! I have grown up in Africa so am constantly surrounded by creepy crawlies and all sorts of bugs and things. The creepiest experience I had ever was when I was camping for a couple of nights and then when I packed up all my stuff on the last night I found that 2 scorpions had been sleeping right under my sleeping bag! I'm just so lucky that they didn't come out while I was still in there and sting me.. But still a scary experience to see them there..

O, my gosh! I would never camp in such an environment! You are quite brave.
That is really spooky to know something that can be dangerous was sleeping beneath you. I could never camp in Africa, because of the snakes and all the poisonous critters that thrive in that area.

I am not sure but I do know of one insect that's big enough to cover a toe and will cling tightly enough to give you the creeps. It is the rhinoceros beetle, but it is completely harmless to humans as it cannot bite nor sting. But of course, I do not know if this beetle is even indigenous in your place, so mine is only guesswork at best.

I think it may be what we call a Junebug here. I do not know the official name of the beetle bug. They fly too, and it is really scary when they fly past your face! They are HUUUGE! They also have pinchers on their face.

Wow! That was one big beetle you had on your toe. If that was me I'd run off screaming until the beetle gets off. I haven't had any similar experience nor would I want to have one.

It was truly frightening! It is dark now, and notice I am in the house.
