Do you have a tattoo or want to have one?

The days when tattoos were only for sailors, prisoners and rock musicians are long gone. Tattoos have become socially acceptable and worn by many with pride.
Many musicians from the rock scene have tattoos, but also students and know personalities. Women prefer tattoos of flowers and ornaments. Also preferred are Asian motifs.
Do you have a tattoo or would you perhaps let yourself make one?
For what motive would you choose? Or, you can not imagine ever having a tattoo.

Hi rick!
No I don't have tattoo and will never consider to have one indeed because it does not look beautiful in my eyes. I loves art but not permanently nor temporary on your skin. Some might think that skin is just like a canvas but I am not thinking in that way as for me we have no right to tattooed the body because it's not belong to us. Altering part of the body to look cool, great etc indicates someone as not a grateful person. It just me-my opinion only. So no tattoos for me!(^^)

Depends on their reasons. I am fine if they undergo a plastic surgery for reconstructive procedures to correct defects on the face or body. For example, the physical birth defects like cleft lips and palates and ear deformities, traumatic injuries like burns etc.
But they did it for the sake of trends (to look young, unique, cool, great etc) I will against it. They have perfect body so they should not alter and change what has been given to them. I don't know what the perfection means to them but for me as long as you have eyes, nose, face, and every part of your body you don't have to go for any surgery or. Face the fact that we are getting older day by day and don't go against the nature. Delay the effects of aging?? That is stupid! Same goes to excessive piercing and other process that seems bring more harm to the body than good.(^^)

Hi Hanum
I agree with you that only for healthy purposes one should make something with the body. However, it will go ahead, that people will try to achieve beauty, specially if they can paid for it. You might be right when you say it's stupid, but I'm thinking what kind of power is this, that lead some people to do such things with their bodies. We aren't totally in freedom or...?

I'm a bit of a sucker for punishment I think.
the one I will PROBABLY have next will be on my ankle. from the boniness and the thin skin, I think some parts of that will probably be as painful as the one on my foot. another I want below the ankle but on the inside of the foot. it's a little fleshier there, so I hope that won't be painful.
and as I said, a lot of areas just felt scratchy rather than painful.
I think it's important to have the tattoo where you want it, as the pain is only temporary, and the tattoo is forever. once the pain goes away you don't want to be wishing you had the guts to have it where you really wanted it.

I am going to be sixty in November and have never had a tatoo. I have thought about getting one on my shoulder of the Scorpio icon. And I have thought about get a celtic knot and vine bracelet. Maybe an anklet too. I think the stars Katt has by her left temple look cool. No special things or anything. Maybe that is why I haven't done it yet.

Tattoo is a kind of culture for those native people in the east of my country, Malaysia.
But for my society at the West Malaysia, tattoo will impress people wrongly.
Most of the gangsters like to use tattoo to differentiate their gangs.
Of course, we have to prepare ourselves to suffer the pain in tattoo.
Once you have tattooed on your body, it is be permanent on there.
This is the most dislike I have.
In my advice, consider seriously before we tattoo.

I like tattos but to see on others body. I don't want to have tattoos on my body.
Sometimes people get bored with the permanent tattoo they get on their body in that case they have to get it modified as it can't be deleted from your body. Secondly its painful when you get it made on your body.

That's why I heard from a lot of people that you always should do a tatto in a place that you don't look at every time. My sister have a small tattoo on her ear and sometimes she even don't remember that she have that tatto.

No girly girl tat fore me! All I want is my avatar on my inner left wrist. See When I was little I had two chicken pox marks there. They helped me learn left from right and now they are so faded. So I want a tattoo there. This way I can see it from time to time.

I have one tattoo, but there are several others that I would like to get. They are a little expensive, though, so I haven’t gotten any more of them. I would certainly not be opposed to getting more of them if I could get them done at a low cost…

I do not think I would ever have the courage to have a tattoo. If I get one, I am scared that time would come that I would regret getting it.
But I have tried having a henna tattoo on my ankle once and I loved it -- at least while we were on vacation. It looks dirty when it started to fade out.

The real tattos sometimes also start to fade out. I had a friend that made a tattoo on her foot of a japanese symbol and after 1 year, the tatto already started to fade out. She decide to remove it, because it was not looking good.

Personally I don't have one and probably won't consider getting one. Its not that I am against it, is just I personally don't think they are for me. But you are absolutely right, now a days it seems like a lot of people are getting them it seems to be growing more and more popular each day.

It is definitely a trend that continues to increase, but I see more with younger adults (ages 18 through 25). Some do have sinficiant meaning to them, but others just get for the heck of it. I have known a few people that one night decided to get drunk and the following morning ended up with a tattoo. I guess really all depends on the person.

Any employer who refuses to hire a person because they are tattooed is guilty of discrimination. I have several and had no problem getting a new job. So long as I don't have tattoos on my hands, I can always wear long sleeves and pants to interviews, anyway.

Tattoo are nice Because It is attractive to someone's body but I don't want to have one myself because I can't stand the pain and It really don't suit for my personality.I have a friend who fantasized to have a tattoo someday but I told him that It is really not nice for him because he had already a nice skin and it also not fitted to his personality as well so as much as possible he will not make one himself.

Yes, tattoo may be nice, but it hurts to get one. I agree with you. In ancient cultures were doing tattoos for many centuries, but were later forbidden in the West. Latest from the nineties there has been a boom in this business.
Thanks and take care!

I have no desire to acquire a tattoo. I'm not into using my skin as an art canvas. There are people who are crazy about this sort of thing, but I am not one of them. I also don't particularly care for the permanent nature of tattoos. What if years later I regret the design or the place on my body where I received my tattoo? It is possible to remove tattoos these days, but the removal process brings with it much more expense and pain then the creation and placing process.

Talk to an artist, not friends about any perceived "risks" in getting tattooed! If you follow the artist's aftercare directions, getting tattooed is perfectly safe. Make sure the studio is clean (it should smell clean) and that the instruments are sterilized correctly. Tattoo needles should be used once and discarded. Do you folks live outside North America?

The human body is a wonderful canvas. I have 4 tattoos so far. I love each one of them! I plan to get as many as I can. Contrary to popular belief getting a tattoo DOES NOT hurt that much. I have a large celtic cross that takes up most of my upper left arm. I took approximately 10 hours to complete in 2 sessions, not counting the touch ups I had done after it healed. I nearly fell asleep during the second session, I was so relaxed.
I have found tattoos are more painful in the 2 or 3 days immediately after one is finished( it feels a little like sunburn in one spot on my skin). There are some areas such as the knee of the foot that may hurt a bit more during the process. I consider the discomfort part of the process and find that the finished art is entirely worth it!
I have plans for many more pieces with many themes including wildlife and celtic knotwork. Thus far, I have a cross on each upper arm, my cat's paw prints and one that is celtic knotwork and greek lettering.
I like summer ONLY for the fact that I can show off my ink!

Hi Rick,
You said it correctly that those days wearing tattoos was restricted to sailors, Rock Musicians and all. But today any one can have it. This says that people I mean the social set up has changed and we accept whoever does it.
As for me I have no liking towards it and would never wear it.

They are amazingly ugly, and have the ability to look even worse over time.
Having nasty tattoos and piercings, is a great way to never get a raise at a job, and rightly so I might add. Customers don't want to come in be present to manage crusty and his nasty tattoo'd arm.
If you want tattoos, go for it. But understand, many people regret their tattoos, and society is not nearly as accepting as people think.

I dont have any tatoo. I have a very low tolerance to pain. But I would like to try the henna tattoo. Henna tattoo are not permanent. I would also like to eyebrow tattoo, given a chance so that I will not shave my eyebrows from time to time

I got one tattoo on my left arm. It's my first but definately not my last.
It's a Finnish lion, I wanted it because I'm proud of being finnish.
For those who don't know, the lion symbolizes, being brave, strong and having finnish "sisu" (Sisu is strength of will, determination and perseverance. "Having guts" in other words.
